The couple at the reception was the nicest, we Wendy there with the car tô check in and they took us to find a parking spot outside then drove us back tô the Sassi. The room was big and neat. Good breakfast, awesome location. Highly reccommended!

We stayed here for 2 nights in one of the cave rooms a short walk from the office. We were above one of the historic caves that was fun to explore. There were 3 of us in our room (suite) and we had plenty of room. We knew breakfast was included but were pleasantly surprised to find our own kitchen...

What a nice place to hang your hat in Matera.these cave apartments (sassi) were very comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Had alot of food, a refrigerator, and a stove for your meals and snakcs. Very centrally located. No parking on site, but for a fee your car will be picked up and delivered when you are ready to leave.

Arrived at reception , and was met by the most helpful owners who gave us all the help we needed to park our car . Once car was safely parked we were showed to our room/cave in the Sassi area of Matera. Loved the place - loads of room , great shower , Jacuzzi ! Basically it was a appartment...

Nice hotel in the caves. Rooms close by the registration office, about 100 yards up the stairs from the office. Our room had a mini kitchen and patio where we had breakfast and evening wine. We were over an original cave with the cisterns. AC worked well though it cools down at night. Owner takes you up to the parking...

We visited Matera in early June and stayed at Hotel San Giorgio, although opting not to stay in one of their cave suites as my husband has an aversion to even a hint of humidity. Our apartment verged on luxurious - a small, completely equipped kitchen, living/dining room with stairs leading to a loft area with seating, roomy bedroom, and...

We were upgraded to an apartment above the office of this charming hotel in the sassi. I understand that the other rooms are situated away from this building, and more in the caves themselves. This was no problem for us. Our apartment was large and quite lovely in its local furnishing. Our problem was that the bathroom was tucked away...

The hotel is spread across the lower part of the city in various caves, rooms, etc. A different experience that would have been enjoyable had it not been for the rudeness of the owner concerning some problems that we encountered with our room. Without going into great detail, suffice it to say that we were treated with such anger that...

Dear guest, Thank you for taking your precious time to review my hotel and also my person. Every remark about myself is contradicted by the other 278 reviews preceding yours (by the way, my name is Alessandra if you do not remember it). Your story is very far from the reality. The staff at this hotel was fantastic . Very helpful, polite and service oriented. I made an error in my reservation and they changed it with no problem. The room was an apartment, well equipped, large and comfortable. The breakfast lovely. The minor negative is that the parking in the town can be difficult and I would have rather been...

We were after the 'cave' experience and got it. We were fortunate to stay in 2 different rooms (Granai and Bifora). The rooms are a 5 minute walk from the main office. Granai had a nice balcony and easy access to the private caves beneath, which you must explore! Bifora was outside the gate on a little corridor but you...
