Detailed Reviews
This is our second stay at StubCroft Farm and it was just as amazing as the first time. We chose to return because we have young people with autism and the staff are exceptionally inclusive and accommodating. The location is perfect with easy walking access to two beaches and a five minute drive to another. The site’s layout with hedges between areas offers seclusion and wind breaks. Power and water is readily available, with taps regularly disinfected. The most outstanding feature is the stunning, immaculately clean amenities block with showers, toilets, laundry and washing-up facilities. With the current COVID situation, the cleanliness of the whole site offered reassurance, together with staff who were kind and helpful in enforcing the guidelines so we all felt very safe. A wonderful break with great facilities and definitely somewhere we will re-visit. Thank you.

This has got to be in my top 3 best campsites. Spotlessly clean. All Covid-19 regulations adhered to, above and beyond. Staff really friendly and willing to help. You do have to book a shower. (They're free, but, by booking a time slot, there is no queue, so social distancing is maintained) Masks to be worn inside main building, plenty of hand sanitiser.
This is not a very big site, but very safe. Children and dog friendly. There is not a child's playground, but the kids had great fun on their bikes. The shop is well equipped, and very reasonably priced. If you forgot anything, be it a can opener, tent peg remover, or your electric hook up, they will be able to accommodate. BBQ's and camp fires welcome.. Bring your own, or hire, and the wood will be delivered to your door.
If you want entertainment, this is not the place for you. If however, you want a bit of R&R (especially after lockdown) in a clean, safe environment, where your children can run around, and your dogs welcome, plus, have a beer around a firepit look no further.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This is a family friendly campsite. As such, there are lots of children running around, kicking balls, riding scooters and bikes, shouting and on occasions, screaming and yelling (though to be fair, when one child screamed right next to the tent where two of the youngest members of our group were asleep, and I went: ‘shhhh’, he did apologise). If all this will bother you, it’s probably best if you stick to booking out of school term time, or find an ‘adults only’ campsite.
The campsite is spacious, there’s plenty of space between pitches (unless I suppose if your tent and vehicle are huge). The newish amenity block is very clean, and most people using it were wearing masks and/or practicing social distancing. Booking a shower slot is a very good idea. The ‘eco-loos’ were nearest the field we camped in. Just don’t stick your nose down the loo. They weren’t that smelly actually, though we are Glastonbury veterans so it’s probably all relative!
On arrival, we had our temperatures measured to check we weren’t actually ill, and the welcoming reception staff gave us all the bumf we needed including a list of local business which will deliver meals to the site (we had a curry from Saffron, recommended). Any staff we came across were pleasant and friendly.
The site permits campfires and barbecues, you can buy logs and fire baskets, and there are bins to place hot ashes and lots of fire extinguishers just in case. The camp shop sells much of what you’ll need including tent pegs, torches and even marshmallows for toasting. You can get meat and meat-free stuff for barbecues though we didn’t buy these since we brought our own.
To get to the Bracklesham Bay beach it’s about a mile down a lane which is mostly vehicle-free (access only for a handful of cottages) so it’s a safe walk until you get to a main road to cross (but not that busy at the moment and there’s an island in the road to help you cross). It’s a similar distance the other way (left out the campsite) to get to East Wittering beach, also down a mostly pedestrian road.
The first couple of days we were there it was very quiet and more than half empty, but the Friday saw the weekenders arrive with their children, and the noise level increased. We were a bit worried but actually at night (certainly after 11pm) it quietened down apart from the odd dog bark or baby wailing. I recommend bringing ear plugs, particularly if you find the seagulls will wake you up at 5am.
Oh did I mention the dogs? If your child loves dogs they will love it here.
We’d probably come back if we’re in the market to go to West Sussex again, can’t see any reason why not. Thanks, we had a great time!

This site is a perfect location for coastal walks, relaxing, well managed sheltered site. Each micro site is sheltered by hedges on three sides with apple trees amongst the hedges, ample standpipes (water pressure is low but can’t be helped) , amazingly clean shower block, toilets, lockers for charging devices, brilliant chemical disposal system, washing machines if you need them, well stocked small shop for things you might forget, Local meat packs, fresh veg, eggs etc. The owners couldn’t be more helpful - even after the storm this week, they visited every camper to make sure they were ok - campsite rule is no music between 11 and 8 which was also very welcome as other sites that’s not always managed
We stayed for three nights in a tent with EHU and will definitely come back, it’s only a 30 minute drive from home but we still felt we had a great break away. Brilliant. Probably the cleanest site I’ve ever been on with frequently cut grass, an environmentally friendly vibe, it was so good seeing so many families smiling and having fun. It would be impossible to be disappointed with this site and I understand they just one another award too - well deserved 👏👏👏👏

We had booked a weekend before Covid hit, and this remained our only getaway of the year, with overseas trips already cancelled. I'm probably biased, we have stayed at this site for a few years now, but that reflects on how great we think it is. The Stubcroft team have obviously upped their game to ensure they can combine a great stay with safety. Extra staff, spotless toilets and showers, a strong steer to wear masks in communial areas, all sat easily with the great open spaces and safe cycling for kids and availability of evening BBQ's and fire pits. A couple of top tips if you are thinking of going. Make sure you book to go to West Wittering beach, you can't just turn up, and whilst the site offers great food, Tom Hoare butchers is worth a shout in East Wittering, he seems to have an infinite variety of sausages.

Spent three nights here at the end of August and can say it's the best, most organised site I've ever camped at. Every detail has been thought through and the owners are taking the current pandemic situation extremely seriously with great measures in place to mitigate risk. Showers and toilets are meticulously clean, camping plots are spacious, onsite shop is well stocked, options to rent BBQs and firepits, big on recycling, ideal location within walking distance of village but also dead quiet especially at night. Will definitely be returning next year.

There were good and bad points to our visit. We booked two pitches together but ended up in different rows altogether. Another friend added to our party making three pitches which triggered an email charging us a £20 bond each pitch in case we made noise. Staff were super friendly and helpful and the main facilities block near the entrance was spotless and well equipped. However being pitched at the far end we had long drop very smelly toilets with a dirt floor and cold water for handwashing with no towels or drier. The dishwashing here had only cold water with low pressure which took an age to fill. The notice said if you want hot water boil a kettle! I pointed out nightshade growing at child height near our pitch but no action was taken. Disappointing for the price as I've been to better sites for the cost. I won't come again but it may suit some and also a great location.

Thank you for your review. We did our best to put you as close as possible to your friends but as it was a late booking those were the only remaining pitches which was explained at the time of booking. For bookings of more than two pitches, we do take a group deposit of £20 per pitch which is returned providing there are no complaints about noise or nuisance from neighbours, this is explained when the third pitch booked and in the confirmation email and is also on the campsite policy page. Many campsites do not allow more than one or two pitches to book together. With regards to your comments about the eco-loos, there is a sign on them to explain that they have been superseded by the new amenity block that is close by so you do not have to use them. We have left them open as we have many regular guests who like to be eco-friendly and still like to use them as being composting toilets they do not use any water or generate any sewage so are completely eco friendly but we do understand they are not to everyone's taste which was why we invested over £450,000 building the new amenity block. Likewise we have a new washing up area with hot water in the new amenity complex but it is not feasible to pipe hot water all around the campsite. We are sorry that there were some aspects of your stay that you were unhappy with, most of our campers are pleased with the site as other reviews show. Had you come to see us about them we could perhaps have explained or resolved them for you whilst you were on site. We hope you find a campsite more suited to your needs.

We stayed at Stubcroft Farm over the weekend of 10th July.
I believe social distancing is the responsibility of the person, when walking about the site most campers will observe but some won't, unfortunately these people walk among us wherever we may be and they always will have their own view as to what is safe or not ....The continuance of our UK campsites will be predicated by our own behaviors in equal measure to that of the owners.
In respect of what measures can be put in place, and managed, I think Stubcroft have done a fantastic job. They have hit the sweet spot in terms of governance, ensuring campers safety is maintained without losing the feel good vibe across the site.
I have visited Stubcroft many times but this was the first time I have visited in high season and have now witnessed first hand the hard work required to manage a busy site.
The staff were all very polite, very efficient, knowledgeable and always on hand to answer questions.
Check, at first glance, looked hectic but how wrong could I have been. We were dealt with very promptly and given clear guidance throughout. I really liked the temperature screening upon entrance.
I was behind a group of cyclists that turned up without having booked and the team were very sympathetic to their plight, providing them with potential alternatives etc.
The main block has alco gel dispensers at the entrance and only allows people in with face masks, I used the block many times throughout the weekend and never saw anyone break this rue (even the younger children) .
The toilets looked and smelt clean, which given how busy the camp was is a great feat in itself.
In summary I thought it all very impressive, a real first class operation in action.
This is a local site to me and I am so pleased they have managed to survive through this pandemic and emerge with such a strong performance.

It is a difficult line to draw when running a campsite but our first concern is the safety of our customers and staff and we are pleased that you were happy with all the measures we have put in place. The site is in a peaceful spot down a long farm drive (and is still a working farm). The pitches are generous and the facilities excellent; sparkling clean. Staff are friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. On our stay it was mostly families and couples, all harmonious and no late noise. We were there in the early days after lockdown and the site had put sensible and reassuring measures in place; facemasks in common areas and booked shower spots, with cleaning between each use. Good range of firepits and BBQs to hire. Great base for cycling and walking to the beaches, mostly along farm tracks and footpaths.

Excellent stay at Stubcroft, very clean, the shop was very useful for bbq hire & butchers food - plus all bits and bobs you may have forgotten such as marshmallows, firelighters etc.
Shower & Facilities great, the inside toilets could be a little cleaner, the loo's were often a bit grubby but other than that fine
Fab location, everyone really friendly and very helpful - they drive round to warn you the shops are closing and to check you are ok, at lest 2-3 times a day/evening.
We will definitely be returning.
