This hotel is nice with a perfect location in central Madrid, Chueca. The hotel style is minimalistic and the rooms are very nice, clean and loving the different designs. Good space and great bathrooms with amazing shower. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great restaurant for breakfast and next door there is a cool lounge with music...

Originally we booked a Deluxe room with 2 beds. When we checked in, they had upgraded us to the junior suite for free. While a very nice room, the Jr. Suite is more decorative than functional so I asked if we could be downgraded back to a deluxe room with 2 beds which was much more comfortable, spacious and functional....

Room Mate Oscar bills itself as "affordable luxury": it is fairly moderately priced for a design hotel. It has an imposing, even slightly intimidating presence on Plaza Vasquez de Mella, the lobby is painted in cool black and this bold colour scheme continues throughout the place. By the time I had got to my room, my overwhelming feeling was confusion....

This hotel is a very good choice in Madrid. The bed was large and very comfortable for two. Our room was in the front on the secnd floor yet was extremely quiet, a big concern of mine. The breakfast is included and was plentiful. It's great to be able to sleep late yet still have breakfast available. Breakfast roomre very...

We loved Room Mate Oscar! The hotel was super clean and the staff very friendly and knowledgable.. and best of all...BREAKFAST! I'm not even a breakfast kind of gal...but the spread (which is included w/your reservation) was coffee, juices, toast, baguettes, brie, hams, other cheeses, cereals, fresh fruit, dried fruit, yogurts, nuts.. and on and on.. it was lovely! Great location, just off Gran Via and other shopping streets near the hotels (I don't remember the name). Metro is very closed by. With this price range, Oscar had offered a very good value for money. Oscar is a chic hotel. I had the facilities what I needed. The breakfast were served until 12.00 pm. The downside was they stopped...

Excellent front desk staff, very helpful. The roof garden is nice but $9 (USD) is a bit much for a small Coke even in Europe. Overall it is a good hotel with a good location just off of Grand Via. There is a great tapas restaurant on GV very near the hotel. I can't remember the name but ask at...

This is my second Room Mate hotel in Madrid -- I stayed at the Alicia almost exactly a year ago. I love them both! The Oscar is in a great location, in the middle of the Chueca, and the staff are friendly and helpful. (The design of the place may be a little over-the-top, but that's part of the fun.)...

For my first visit to Spain, i was a bit nervous and the hotel. I wanted a nice place in a good location, but not knowing Madrid, i wasn't sure. I found Oscar's website and really found the photos and descriptions to be great. So, I booked it. And I'm glad I did! My friend and I will definitely return....

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
