I have stayed several times at La Zona and it's my first choice for staying in Madrid. It's location is perfect, just off Gran Via, very close to Chueca, Retiró park is about a 15 min walk away. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay. Breakfast is included in the price and is...

This was our second accommodation in Hostal La Zona and we have found what we expected: A friendly welcome,a clean and basic room with a bathroom, perfect location between Gran Via and Chueka. Ideal for couple of nights in Madrid. Value for price. Highly recommended

Hostal la Zona, located in Chueca, is one of my favourite place where I stay when I visit Madrid. It is cheap, clean, friendly and also good located. 4 stars I recommend all my friends&families to chose for Hostsl la Zona 👍🏾

Reasonably priced. However, the showering facilities were not very good. The water pressure and temperature changes every 30 seconds. Breakfast was complementary, but nothing more than that. Rather poor, actually. Wifi was unstable and not always working. Not able to book a twin bed, so it's a luck of the draw, if you get one as a couple. The location...

We walked straight past this hotel the first time, as the street entrance is shared with the rest of the building, once inside we were given a friendly welcome. Our room was indeed small and simple, but clean, nice firm mattress, and with some character of an older building. Great location for checking out the Madrid nightlife.

It's amazing how people give this place high marks. Yes, the hostel is located in the center, close to the subway, attractions, shops, cafes and supermarkets. Yes, you will be friendly welcomed (and where you meet different?) аnd tell about routes and attractions. But everything else .... 1.Noise from the street. The building is old and the windows are wooden...

Spent 2 nights at Hostal La Zona. The room was clean and functional. It was a small room, but that was expected, and was a very good price. Within walking distance to all of the major attractions we wanted to see. The included breakfast was a nice perk.

No recommend this hostel. The attendant is very impolite. Hostel dirty. Very bad maintenance. No parking. The breakfast is suppose to start at 8:30 am but start at 9:30 am. Very old and try to be "fashion". Worst hotel in my travel.

This hostal gave us a central base for sightseeing and nightlife. We could walk to all central Madrid spots. Rooms were functional and clean. We had shutters for fresh air and just a little noise on weekend nights. The ensuite shower and loo were a bit tight for space but worked fine and were stocked every day with fresh soap,...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
