This hotel has the perfect location! Might be a little bit difficult to find at first, but that's just charming. Staff is very friendly and service minded and the room was not luxury or very designed - instead rather simply furnished but clean and the old style well kept. It was functional and we had an excellent stay here. Breakfast...

We were very happy at this small hotel. We had a room on the fourth floor at the back (number 7). The bathroom was new. The two single beds were clean and comfortable. There was avoid fridge and a small hotplate and cooking utensils which had never been used. There was a safe and a lift that took you nearly...

This hotel is well located and clean. You should have a room of the top instead of the first or second floor because of the noisy street full of restaurants and bars. The major problem is about the staff who enters the rooms while you are out not only for cleaning but also for STEALING items we bought (Turon stolen...

When visiting Madrid this place ticks many boxes - location excellent - very central close to Sol Metro and the sights. Dining bars - right in the heart of it . Cost - reasonable for the location . We were a family of 4 and chose the El Tiempo because of it's central location - It is down a pedestrian...

Pros Clean, excellent central location, friendly staff, free wifi, secure entry. Cons Now, I expect noise from the street due to location and the culture. It wasnt too bad and doesnt last til very late, i'm fine with that. But what annoyed me being constantly woken up in the mornings (inbetween 7-10) by people and talking loudly in the corridors....

Right in the heart of the city, a great selection of dining and bars to choose from close by. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the area. A walk from the tour bus stops and the main square. The staff were very friendly, bit hard to understand as they did not speak english but we muddled through with a...

Four of us stayed in a deluxe apartment which was very spacious and well equipped with a full size fridge, washing machine and a generous sized bathroom. The apartment was really well situated with it being minutes from both Sol station and Calle Gran Via, which suited us perfectly. The breakfasts included were typical continental fare with meats, cheeses, fruits...

Visited this hotel with my boyfriend on a budget weekend trip, we were not disappointed. Right in the heart of the city with a wonderful selection of restaurants and bars in the local area at night. Walking distance to tour bus stop and underground. Breakfast was substantial, room was with a street view - a little loud at night but...

It's just a hostel. Not for this price anyone could get with autumn discount even 3 star hotel close to Gran Via. Very small, dark rooms ( we got one with small hole instead of window that we didn't even know if it is day or still night ). Anyway, staff very friendly and rooms were cleaned each day. Traditional...

This hotel is perfectly situated, close to everything. Room was really clean and modernish looking. Staff were brilliant and helpful. Great price, would have expected it to be more expensive due to its central location.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
