Small, cheap and nice hotel on the edge of the gay neighborhood Chueca. Clean and nice rooms with airco. The beds are good but rather short and small. Had breakfast included in a bar nearby. breakfast is typically Spanish. I definitely will stay here again!

I enjoyed my stay here. It is close to the Metro and Puerto del Sol, and lots of shops and restaurants. I found the hotel quiet, except for street noise on a Thursday night. The housekeeping woman is very friendly and helpful, but knowing some Spanish will help as she does not speak English. (There is a gentleman who works...

Rooms (especially bathrooms) are small, but well equipped (even there is a desktop in the room). No receptionist, so you need to be individual. Great location, in the heart of Chueca, gay district. This also means that it is a bit noisy, but that is normal in the city centre.

I can't believe the good reviews I read from this hostel!. The pictures from their website are a lie. This hostel is way too expensive for the quality of the rooms. The only good about the hotel is the location which is right in the centre of Madrid. I spent 3 nights in this hostel last week and please note...

I stayed in November and I just loved it! The staff is lovely (didn't speak much english but we managed to understand each other), the location is great, close to a lot of pubs and restaurants, as well as shops. We stayed for 4 days and visited the city without using any public transports. Closeby the San Miguel mercado which...

They made me feel welcome by sending me an email days before I arrived, containing info about how to get to the hotel. Rooms are tiny but so cute and well appointed. It really feels like staying at someone's home. And it's in the middle of everywhere, as you can walk all around central Madrid from here. I widely recommend...

We stayed at The SANTA ANA APARTAMENTOS (2A) for a weekend in November 2011. I picked it based on price and location - Plaza Santa Ana is literally on the dorrstep and the area is packed with fab tapas bars and 10 minutes from Sol and Plaza Mayor. The staff were all friendly and helpful, a LOVELY romanian lady I...

We arrived in Madrid after having travelled on the bus from Valencia for over 5 hours, and were looking forward to getting a shower and comfy room! The hotel is situated in the up and coming Chueca district of Madrid, just down the road from the metro station. When we arrived the staff were fantastically welcoming and the room was...

Even without any independent reviews available, we decided to take the risk and go to "Madrid House" in Madrid-Chueca, because the majority of the other affordable places were unavailable or with bad reviews in TripAdvisor. The surprise couldn't be better: A good, modern look room, everything properly cleaned (daily), comfortable bed, and lots of details that usually are only found...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
