Small room, too small for 2, luckily I was alone. typical balcony with somewhat challenging doors. Very nice and friendly staff that's difficult to come by, because there's no reception of any kind and its very difficult to guess on which door one should knock! Very quiet considering I was told it was fully booked! the only sound I heard... More

Hotel with loads of rules and regulations which was not told to me during my reservation. No guest allowed in my room. My friends could not come in my room like in a real hotel. I thought spanishs were open-minded but each time I brought someone, a young lady came and knocked on my door telling me that no guests... More

Room was excellent. All amenities working including free WiFi. The owner of this establishment is very friendly and courteous and makes sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend staying here and would return again over picking another hostal.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

“There is the lift in the building. The room is small, without air-condition but the fan is present. The bed's mattress is excellent - you don't remember about your back (if you have a problem with it). You may use a kettle from the corridor to make tea or coffee. The balcony facing the small street.”
