I stayed three nights. Very well located, walking distance to Madrid´s major landmarks and bustling tapas bars. Clean, cozy, friendly. I couldn´t ask for more. Very affordable price wise, even for a private room with bath. Breakfast is also offered and though simple has everything for a healthy one. On top of all the building itself is a masterpiece, a...

I only stayed a night and was only in Madrid to grab a visa for China. Staff were friendly, room and bed was fine. There was a free locker in the room for my belongings. Nice spacious communal areas including a roof terrace to go have a cigarette. Location was great, I didn't bother exploring on this visit to Madrid,...

This hostel could have such a good vibe if the staff smiled and showed a little care when greeting new guests, and if there weren't signs with threats all over the place about a €100 fine if you bring drinks, about losing your key deposit if you're late for check-out or about not using the elevator if you have legs....

- Great social environment especially for lonely travellers and helpful, friendly staff. - The decor was edgy and they had great social events! - The hostel is close to all points of interest but located in a quiet street. - That's the only hostel we have been with a hairdryer in the room, plus a lot of free generous bonuses:...

Good place to stay, nice staff. Clean, spacy lobby, unless big groups arrive for weekend. Shower is narrow, maybe kitchen can also get bit narrow if many people around. Loction is good (this time the closest metro line was under construction). But this is over then

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. They have a rooftop bar but it is only open until 11pm but you can then continue socializing and drinking down in the lobby which has plenty of space. The room I stayed in was a tight fit for four people but was still nice enough with individual lockers that have electronic locks...

This hostel is a good place to stay when in Madrid. It has a real 'travelers vibe'. The staff was friendly, the location was good (very quiet area/street). The room was nice & clean and the bed was good. The only 2 negative things we experienced was that there was just a very small window in the bathroom and no...

If you want start for your Madrid trip it is good point. They serve is basic breakfast. It is good for this price. Cleaning not bad. They want extra pay for your luggage stories! If you don't disturb noise pollution and want go to all central point by walking. Yes you can stay...

This is just a basic hostel, a little more on the quiet side, which suited me just well. There is a free breakfast offered (cereal, toast and such). The room was ok as well, but the communal bathrooms and showers could be cleaned more often. The rooftop bar is a nice place to chill in the evening with a cheap...

Very safe and fairly clean (clean most the time. it's just so large). While it has the potential to be a very social and fun hostel it just felt very sterile. It was hard to meet people as a solo traveler compared to other hostels. It felt like cheap college dorms during a summer sports camp. Very much an institute...

Hello! Thank you for giving your feedback in all aspects..It really helps us. Mad hostel could be kind of quiet and that's why we are partnered up with Cat's Hostel, which is great for partying and socializing. But then again, it's good to rest after all day walking around and all night partying...:) We offer all kinds of drinks at...

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
