My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Casa de Madrid. We thought the experience was unique and really gave us a sence of being at a home away from home. The service was so personal. The staff always smiled and were extremely flexible with us (check-out and various requirements). Excellent breakfasts with a spectaular view of the Opera...

I was seduced by the pictures of the murals and eccentric decor. All of this was as beautiful as pictured, and you really feel you are staying in an old palace (which you are). What I hadn't expected was the kindness of the owner - who when she knew I was interested in the decor showed me round personally, even...

We stayed in the Demascus suite and if it is available I would highly recommend it. We bought food at the market by The Plaza Mayor and had meals in our own dining room that had a small kitchen, as we had been traveling and eating in restaurants for too long! The bathroom is small, but everything else about the...

With the Royal Theatre and Opera next door and the Royal Palace around the block, it is easy to feel like aristocrats from an other era in this grand private apartment converted into a boutique guesthouse. A maid in starched uniform bears a silver tray of your morning cafe con leche and croissant to a settee by the open French...

We chose this hotel through reading Trip Advisor reviews and seeing the photos on the hotel's Web site. We wanted a special place to celebrate our son's college graduation in Madrid and Casa de Madrid delivered. Though there is currently construction on the Opera Plaza, it did not dampen our enthusiasm for this very unique small hotel. One can imagine...

We loved our stay at Casa de Madrid. It's intimate, welcoming, stylish and felt like we were living somewhere foreign and exotic. Small touches like candles, incense, fabulous mattress and luxurious linens made our room both personal and comfortable. The light breakfast served in the small lobby/parlor was perfect each day, with fresh squeezed juice, coffee and croissants. The location...

We landed up in Casa De Madrid as our first stop on our honeymoon in Spain, and we were absolutely delighted. Just being in the hotel put across such a beautiful sense of calm in us. It has been done up tastefully and felt more like a beautiful home that we were welcomed to stay in rather than a hotel....

It is not an hotel, it is a wonderful big apartment few steps from Royal Palace as well just meters from the centre of the center. Being more a home , they will all make their best to share their privileged roomy feeling with you , there are only seven rooms each individually decorated personally from the owner that is...

Quite simply one of the most delightful places we have stayed in; as far from a conventional hotel as one could wish. We were in the Damascus suite, a splendid set of rooms including a large and comfortable sitting room with two balconies overlooking the Opera House - the perfect place to relax before and after forays into the city....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
