Great location, great service, great staff and the cutest place. I had other choices, but I am glad that I changed it to this beautiful hotel. What a clean and cozy room and really friendly staff. Thank you

Beautiful hotel—the rooms are perfectly comfortable and tidy. The service is outstanding. We arrived in Madrid early in the day (9:30am) and were very worried about checking in so early. Totem was extremely accommodating letting us check into a room directly upon arrival. We were also very pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded to a suite! The location of...

Ideally located for shopping and close to metro and great restaurants. Great breakfast. 1920's theme throughout. We would stay again. Staff very helpful, their advice on restaurants excellent and places to visit

The best way, i think, to describe this location is intelligent . Its two blocks from puerta alcala, every street surrounding this hotel is filled with small stores and restaurants. We loved walking around Salamanca neighborhood, would recommend on of their larger rooms if you decide to stay here.. (at least a king size bed above 2nd floor) The restaurant...

Stayed 2 nights. The hotel decor and rooms were impeccably posh and sophisticated. The staff was lovely and made great dinner recommendations. The hotel restaurant had a great breakfast which was reasonably priced. The hotel bar is the best I've ever been to. Great decor, music and music. Neighborhood is great and lots of shopping. Metro Serrano is nearby, will...

We chose the Totem having read a review in a travel guide. We were looking for somewhere slightly quirky, near shopping and nice restaurants in Madrid and Totem definitely fitted the bill. It's location in the upmarket Salamanca district, close to Serrano, Goya and Velasquez was perfect. The tapas bars and restaurants nearby were all good and the area was...

Great experience in Madrid: perfect location, high standard rooms, very welcoming staff, lobby/bar very original (in a covered patio), modern and typical at the same time, Would definitely recommend it ..

The tips from the staff (esp regarding restaurants) made a tremendous difference to an enjoyable weekend. They were very willing to take the time and help us plan our trip. The hotel was clean, quiet and in a great location close to shops and sights. I also enjoyed the bar area.

Beautiful boutique hotel in posh Salamanca district, very central but not in the very touristy areas of Sol or Plaza Mayor. Very quiet and just off the centre to be just a short taxi ride away. Double exterior rooms are not huge but large enough to be comfortable and are decorated with style and elegance. Beds are comfortable, marble bathroom...

Working in the hospitality industry, I tend to be very specific and critical on experiencing hotels. I must say that Hotel TOTEM checked all the boxes required for me to fully enjoy my stay. The staff at the front desk and door couldn't have been more genuine and helpful on so many levels in addition to fantastic restaurant recommendations. They...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
