Stayed 6 nights whilst attending a business fair. Staff fantastic, concierge, front desk, bar, restaurant and maids all happy to be serving you and with a smile. Beds and pillows best I have ever had in any hotel during my many European trips. Centrally placed in up market area of Madrid. First visit but will not be my last...

We stayed here for 2nts as part of a group. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the hotel entrance. We experienced no street noise whatsoever & the heavy curtains provide complete black out from any morning light. The room was very modern & housekeeping did a great job & one morning our room was cleaned while we were...

We stayed for two nights in this newish boutique hotel in the chic Salamanca district of Madrid, north of the Retiro park. The design was great and our room was decorated tastefully with high quality fittings, a large and comfortable bed and well-insulated windows, although the streets around here are very quiet at night. The staff were discreet and attentive...

Located in the nicer part of Madrid where shopping is more upmarket . Very quiet as we ask for room facing courtyard . Popular bar and restaurant at the lobby level . Front desk staffs are friendly and efficient . Housekeeping besides daily cleaning provide evening turn down service . Room is small and so is the bathroom area ....

Lots of good reasons to choose the Totem for your stay in Madrid. All the staff we met were helpful and friendly, that includes receptionists ,porters, bar and restaurant waiters. We had a Deluxe Exterior room (204) that looked out onto Calle de Lagasca. We did get some early morning street noise but nothing too intrusive. The room had a clean, minimalist look...

We really enjoyed staying at The Totem Hotel, the rooms are small but they are stylish with wonderfully comfortable beds and beautiful linen and have windows overlooking the beautiful street it resides. The bar staff are friendly and helpful and the reception staff are welcoming and help you with any requests. The housekeeping is impeccable, the rooms clean and fresh...

This is a fantastic find in Madrid! Super clean, gorgeous interiors and an attentive staff. The room was a bit on the smaller side but that didn't matter so much. Good price and situated near Madrid's high fashion shopping streets. The only negative is that the breakfast which was included was quite small, we could only choose one dish. Otherwise...

We booked the Totem hotel because of the aesthetics. It does look very nice and you cannot really fault the location in a very beautiful, hip and trendy neighborhood. The room was also very nicely appointed, although I wish the lighting was a bit less moody and a bit more work-friendly. But the main problem was the floor insulation. I...

Went without knowing too much about this hotel and I was surprised by the atmosphere and the very welcoming and efficient staff. Very proactive and sensitive to the clients request. Very well situated and next to big names. Pricing is very affordable and I would recommend it. One single issue is the heating as you cannot control your room's temperature.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
