Casa Chueca is a great little hostal in the heart of Madid's buzzing, bohemian centre. Chueca is just off the Gran Via in the Spanish capital and the Metro Gran Via is a short walk from Casa Chueca. The host, Mario was very kind and...More
One of the great things about Madrid is that you can still find affordable nice little hostals in the center of things and Casa Chueca is a perfect example of this. I couldn't have been more pleased by the service, cleanliness, comfort, location -- and...More
Tucked away in the centrally located, gay friendly neighborhood of Chueca my wife and I found this quaint little hostel. The prices were on par with the other hostels we looked at in the area (€55) and the rooms were simple and clean with recently...More

Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses
here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
