We stayed at this hotel seven years ago, and again in 2017. Our stay this time was very enjoyable, but the hotel has faded a bit and needs an update. It is struggling a bit to meet its 4 stars. Nevertheless it is a lovely place to stay, with good sized rooms, a nice breakfast, great location, and wonderful staff....

Fortunately for us Madrid is a lovely city, the food, sighrs and people can cheer you up after staying at this disaster. I don't like to give 1 star ratings as I understand this can be seen as harsh, but after receiving the wrong room our first night (a mini double instead of the larger double as advertised) we were...

For a 4 star hotel we were underwhelmed and found our stay a bit disappointing. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to many activities but protected from the noise and crowds. But, the service and what we experienced was just not quite to par. The beds were not very comfortable (at least not compared to another hotel in...

Superb location. Steps from gran via and opera metro station. Walking distance to most of the tourist attractions. The hotel es beautiful. Mix of old and modern. Rooms are comfortable and staff are helpful. I would stay again without a doubt. Muy buena opción en el centro de Madrid.

Good hotel, but everything small. Difficult to park. Nice building. Clean and quiet room. Free wifi. Friendly staff. Amenities. Close to historic landmarks in Madrid. Good area for walking, restaurants, leisure, etc. I prefer bigger spaces, but this hotel is cool

We just came back from four nights at Las Meninas. The location is great: on a quiet street mid-way between the Opera and Callao subway stations. It's a ten minute walk to the Plaza del Sol, five minutes to the Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real. The staff were all very nice and very helpful. Although we really didn't need...

An excellent hotel in a central location. In a quiet side street which leads directly off Plazza Opera, Hotel Meninas is ideally placed to enable you to explore this historic district of Madrid. We were travelling with only hand luggage and our mini double room was more than adequate for our needs. If you had one or more suitcases, it...

We stayed at Hotel Meninas while visiting Madrid for a long weekend in early March 2017. We were very impressed with this hotel which is located within a short walk of the centre of the city. It is also adjacent to the Metro station, bus stops and taxi rank. The hotel is fairly small but clean, comfortable and staff very friendly...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - greeted by Fernando (I think) who was really helpful and friendly. Very quiet room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was great. Great location. Be warned if using metro from the airport that line 8 is closed until April so you need to get Renfe train to Nuevo ministre and then metro.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
