The most important thing: Excellent location in the heart of Madrid city center, a short walk from all the attractions and places of interest. Metro station 100 meters away. Eroski supermarket about 150 meters away. Good suitable light breakfast: coffee, juice, bread, cheese, yogurt, fruit and a chocolate bar. (Not always need to have eggs and bacon, etc.) Very friendly... More

We traveled in Madrid with my wife in the end of September and stayed to this 1-floor hostel for 3 nights in total. The staff is friendly and tried to help even if they don't speak English well. The room was clean when we arrived but was small. The bathroom was an added aluminum-glass cabin in the room, but was... More

Located on a side street to Gran via. Close to the park, museums and varios placas. The place in actually quit big, but is well disposed, so it appear very cosy. The room was nice and clean and made up daily. The shared toilet and shower was as clean as the rest and never a problem to get to. A... More

The room was cheap, small, clean and just right for us. Excellent location just steps away from the main road, transport and major attractions. Free breakfast was fine. Internet worked good. Room had a ceiling fan. Wasn't the smalled triple I ever stayed in -but close. Very helpful staff. Has an elevator too.

As a short stay over hostel in central Madrid, La Fontana ticks lots of boxes. Located in Calle Valverde it is conveniently place for all of the major tourist attractions and ideal for use as an overnight base whilst train or plane hopping, with Gran Via metro station a few hundred metres stroll away. Hostel is clean, secure, comfortable and... More

The hostel was good value for a central madrid venue. Clean, warm, quiet and breakfast included. My room was small being a single and room would have been an issue if I had spent any time in there. But as purely a bed for the night and somewhere to wash and brush teeth it served a purpose. Some independant visitors... More

We stayed here from the 19th July myself and teenage son, at first thoughts I wasn't too sure as the street didn't seem to be the best choice as it was obvious ladies where plying their trade . Only location of this place was really good. Other than this it was just shocking. I will not claim to small room size and that room looked not like at photos. The main issue is that everything was very dirty and not accurate... When came time to sleep we discovered in our bed many hair and small kind of trash.... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
