Just had a girls weekend in Madrid , the apartment was in a great location for bars, restaurants , Santa Ana Plazza , Unfortunaly on a very noisy side street with a night club opposite , sleep was very difficult , inside the kitchen was clean but not well equipt , no wine glasses etc. The bathroom tiles were very...

This is ideally located - very basic but clean. Air con didn't work in bedroom and water tank dripped onto bathroom floor. Main problem is is the noise from all cafes, restaurants and the fact that it is across road from night club. Only managed 1.5hrs sleep because of voices, shouting etc -

We booked two apartments here and the whole process went very smoothly. Everyone was helpful and the location was just brilliant, especially for the price. The only down side was that while our apartment had a balcony and lovely big windows, our friend's was much darker, with only a tiny window in the living area and a slight smell of...

The apartments have no air conditioning and are extremely hot so I would definitely not recommend in summer. They are in a good location. Can be a little noisy at night. Can sleep 8. Situated on the 4th floor with a small lift that can only take 3 people at a time.

These apartments are in a brilliant location, only a 5 minute walk from the central train/metro station Sol and close to all the shopping and clubs/bars. The accommodation itself is fairly basic, and looks nothing like the professional pictures would suggest. It is nice enough to stay in and clean, however slightly run down. Also the free wifi did not...

We absolutely loved our stay here. Marta, the owner, was execptionally helpful when we arrived and gave us good tips on where to go and what to see. The location was excellent and we were able to walk to wherever we wanted to go. We wanted an apartment so we could make our own breakfast in the mornings and the...

We've just returned from a three-night break in Madrid, staying at the Santa Ana apartments, the location of which was perfect for exploring the city. We were in one of the apartments towards the back of the building, which was a relief given the comments we'd read about the noise from the bars mentioned in other reviews: our apartment was...

The location was very central. We didn't need to use buses or the Metro and were within walking distance of everywhere. We got a pleasant welcome at the building on Sunday afternoon and were given a map of central Madrid with all the information we could have wanted on our first trip to Madrid. We asked for and got a...

Stayed in March with 3 other adults. Apartment was perfectly located with a 5 min walk to Sol square. Clean and modern. local spa outside the main door. Plaza Ana also on the door step. Be aware that apartment does not have 4 single beds but 2 doubles. Reception very helpful with local information. Would stay again

Excellent location, at the heart of the city. A lot of tabernas and shopping alternatives in the district. Furniture and design is simple, not very charming. Our appt had daylight, but some does not. There is a bar in font of the building, noisy one until 3 am. It was ok for us since we were so tired, we were...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
