You have to pay for things that are normally free. Bag storage & kitchen use. It cost €6 to use the kitchen and then they said I couldn't use the kitchen until 11am. Because, this included breakfast (toast & cereal) none of which I could eat due to my allergies. There was no lighter in the kitchen to light the...

This hostel is an excellent option if you're on a tight budget. The staff are lovely, the place is clean, the atmosphere is friendly. It is very conveniently located close to about everything. Would go back.

The bed are very comfortable and the smell of clean is welcoming, the showers are OK but only 2 female toilets and 2 male toilets. It is the best...

I was very excited to spend a weekend in this hostel, but unfortunately problems arose last minute with my transportation. The people working here talked to me via email and were so understanding about my situation, allowing me to cancel my reservations free of charge, despite being within 12 hours of my expected arrival! I would absolutely recommend staying somewhere...

This was my second time here. This time around I got a private room and it was just what we needed. It had a private bathroom and a decent amount of space. My previous stay I was in a mixed dorm and had a good experience. The breakfast is as advertised. They also have a paid shuttle that you can...

Very good position in the centre of Madrid, close to the Opera metro station. Very nice and cozy room but the bathroom wasn't so clean. Not much place to hang around outside the room but friendly guys at the reception.

I enjoyed my time at Los Amigos. It was close to the Opera metro station and the Sol station. You could get anywhere from those two stations. Calle Arenal was a busy thoroughfare which could lead to a lot of noise at night. Bring earplugs to sleep. It was down the street from Puerta del Sol and Isabel II square....

Checked in at 11 in the morning. Had to wait for an hour to get the room ready. We booked a double room, which was basic but very clean and with an attached toilet. Though this is located at the 4th floor, it is not a problem as it had an elevator. But one thing that beats all aspect is...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
