An ideal place to stay if you want to go sightseeing in Madrid. All the main sights are in walking distance, and you have easy access to the Metro system as well the suburban railway (cercanias). The nearest bus stop for the airport is also in walking distance. The staff is helpful and speaks English. Restaurants, cafes and supermarkets offer...

I booked this instead of a hotel but unlike my nightmare idea of hostels this one is fine. All private bathrooms, clean, decorated lovely with fridge and safe in room. We had a good sized bedroom but the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. Husband had to sit on toilet at an angle!! Staff are all lovely. Some comments about beds...

Hostal Adriano is a great place to stay if you're visiting Madrid. FAB location with Plaza Mayor and Prado museum and Retiro park all in easy walking distances. Room was super clean and came with a fridge, a safety deposit, good shower and towels were also provided. Walls are slightly on the thin side so we heard some noise from...

I am a 20 year old female travelling with another 20 year old female and Hostal Adriano fit our needs perfectly. We stayed a twin room with a private bathroom. Before we left for our trip the hostal staff provided us...

Hostal Adriano was everything we wanted, location, friendly staff and spotlessly clean with a fridge and free wifi. Walkable to all the main sites and surrounded by some really good bars and restaurants including Le Jardin. Definitely staying here again when we go in December

Behind a nondescript door in Madrid's Calle della Cruz, and on the fourth floor (served by an efficient lift) , is this little gem of Madrid Minimalism. The small rooms have every accompaniment to a quiet and enjoyable stay. The central heating works efficiently with the touch of a button. The beds are luxuriously comfortable. The interior decor shows an...

Stayed here for six nights and highly recommend it. Our room appeared to have been recently refurbished and was lovely. It was serviced daily. The bathroom was small but adequate and had a good supply of hot water. The staff were knowledgeable and most helpful. Our balcony door was triple glazed which blocked the street noise, but we could hear...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
