I stayed in Hostal Cibeles for 5 nights - I booked a single room with private bathroom. The reception of this hostal is in another hostel two blocks away (quite easy to find). The great / positive things about this hostel: - great location, not far via Gran Via. - in a quiet street (though if you're unlucky there's a... More

Centrally located 5 mins. walk from the Tribunal metro stop. Check in is at another hotel just around the corner but that's no problem. Access is via 2 flights of approx. 10 stairs which could be a problem for some travellers. Bed clean bathroom clean and water hot. Although décor was grubby in parts and in definite need of a... Great, new, clean and independence allowing hostel in very center of madrid. Just around 150meters from gran via. Offers everything you may need. The check-in is in different hostel so be aware. Butit is very close.

My friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights in August. It was a bit of an effort to check in at the other hotel, but it all went smoothly. Loved Madrid, fantastic food and this was a good place to explore it from!

My boyfriend was spending a whole month at this hostel (which meant a lot of money), and I stayed there for only 2 night and they made me pay for it, and we were in a single room, and didnt get the chance to move to a double room.

Fantastic price for its location. Clean and smart inside (looks like it has recently been refurbished). Smallish but basic rooms as you'd expect. Will definitely stay again. Nice cafe/bar directly opposite for breakfast

While the location of this hostal is right in the center, and it is not expensive, the comfort is spartan. The twin beds are adequate, the shower works, they are stingy with filling the soap, the towels are satisfactory, but over-all it is just that - inexpensive with just the bare minimum. The woman at the reception when I arrived... More

likes: The hostel is very clean and is located well for transport, shopping and sightseeing.    it is perfect for putting your head down.  Good value for money. It is very safe for travellers. Dislikes: if you are after a hostel environment this is not for you, there are no common areas.  Wifi is also very limited to the entrance... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
