This is hotel is central within 5-10 minutes walk of the shops and the main attractions with a cinema opposite, a Theatre at the end of the street and a Lidl around the corner. We were also able to walk to some of the main museums from the hotel. The room was basic, with a good breakfast (pity none of...

This hotel is a short stroll from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. All the staff were excellent and very helpful in providing us touristic information. The rooms were spacious and spotless, which we needed as we were a party of six including several children. The breakfast was ok.

Stayed here as a base to explore Madrid for 4 days and very pleased with the choice. Located near Plaza del Sol this is easily accessed from the airport and enables you to reach most of Madrid's major attractions on foot within 30minutes. A notable exception to this is the Bernabeu which requires bus or metro but these are in...

The hotel is situated 2 minutes walk from the very heart of Madrid, Puerta del Sol, and walking distance from a lot of other famous must sees in the city: Plaza Mayor, the palace, Plaza Santa Ana. Therefore, it is a convenient situated hotel for tourist visiting the city. The room was quiet, clean and spacious. Pleasant staff during check-in...

This hotel was in a great, central location- walking distance to all major sites and train station. The hotel was clean and it met our needs, as we were only in Madrid for 3 nights. If you are looking for a clean, central hotel and on a budget- I recommend Hotel Cortezo!

We were STOLEN! When we arrived at the hotel we opened our bag and separated a few Euros for dinner. We keep the rest of the money in the suitcase padlocked. After a few hours on the street we went back to the hotel and our money simply was gone! Not only the Euro but also some Brazilian Reais who...

Dear Sir, we are very sorry but you have not been stolen in the hotel. We showed you how nobody is inside of your room with the report of your electronic door. It is very sad to read how you can accuse of that. The room has a free safety box and you did not used it. You signed the...

We planned our last day in Spain here, after a week in other parts of the country. The staff is great. Very pleasant. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was horribly laid out, with the door hitting the toilet. No kitchen. And there's a soup kitchen across the street.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
