Ideal for visiting Madrid, very central and reasonable price, breakfast was nice, room small but clean, for the price and location I found it ideal and would be very happy to stay here again next time I'm in town.

This hotel was in a great, central location- walking distance to all major sites and train station. The hotel was clean and it met our needs, as we were only in Madrid for 3 nights. If you are looking for a clean, central hotel and on a budget- I recommend Hotel Cortezo!

We were STOLEN! When we arrived at the hotel we opened our bag and separated a few Euros for dinner. We keep the rest of the money in the suitcase padlocked. After a few hours on the street we went back to the hotel and our money simply was gone! Not only the Euro but also some Brazilian Reais who... More

Dear Sir, we are very sorry but you have not been stolen in the hotel. We showed you how nobody is inside of your room with the report of your electronic door. It is very sad to read how you can accuse of that. The room has a free safety box and you did not used it. You signed the... More

We planned our last day in Spain here, after a week in other parts of the country. The staff is great. Very pleasant. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was horribly laid out, with the door hitting the toilet. No kitchen. And there's a soup kitchen across the street.

If there is one downside of the hotel that it is not the easiest to reach by public transportation (taxi, bus), so when we realized this, simply got in a cab. It takes about 20 minutes to get in from the airport. The check-in was very quick, we even got an upgrade! The room was a quite a good size,... More

We picked this hotel because of the amazing value it represented for an hotel so close to the city centre and we were not disappointed in the least. Puerto del Sol, the literal centre of Madrid is only 5 minutes walk, if that, Plaza Mayor is around 10 minutes and the Prado and other art galleries are 15 minutes walk... More

Stayed here at the start of our Andalusian trip. Great location for the main sights. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a junior suite which was lovely and really cool with comfortable beds. Didn't eat here so can't comment on food. Would recommend.

Visited Madrid in July with my family. Really nice experience. Hotel Cortezo is just a short distance from the Plaza Mayor and other popular attractions. Check out the garden and the sun loungers on the roof. Lovely view of the city.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
