Stayed here for 4 nights. The place itself was in an apartment building on the first floor. You must buzz in the first time you check in but receive a key to all doors. It is very cosy inside with a nice lobby area just like an apartment and nice clean rooms. Everyday the beds were made and bathroom serviced....

If you only got a small budget then this is the place to be. We have been a group of 3 and booked a Triple Bed Room for 2 nights. The location is very good, close to the Prada (~7min. walking distance), historic district, various restaurants and ~10min. walking distance to Atocha rail station. The room was cleaned everyday and...

If you're looking for a super cheap place to stay with a fantastic location, clean facilities, and good privacy, Hostal Armesto is perfect. It is located extremely close to all of the major sights and is very easy to find. It also has very quick free wifi. The man working at the front desk was kind and helpful when it...

The hostel was very close to all the main sights in downtown Madrid. We didn't end up taking the public transport even once due to its proximity to major sights and the main train station. The hostel itself was clean and a decent amount of space for two people. However, if you are looking for an english speaking establishment, this...

Nice and clean, my room 105 had a lovely view into a nice garden courtyard. It was close to all 3 museums: El Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza. It was a nice stroll to Plaza del Sol and nice places to eat. But my tip is to go to the local market and get fruit, goat cheese, cured ham and...

This place was great for us- very simple, excellent location. It was a 5-10 minute walk to the Prado, 15-20 to the Reina Sofia, not too far from the Metro, very close to the double decker bus tours that we used for transportation to get everywhere else. We were myself (mid 20s) and my mother (late 50s) and she loved...

Very good location, close to the art triangle, and the city centre. A bit of a walk to reach from the Metro. Old building, will have to carry your luggage up a substantial number of stairs. Quiet, clean. Didn't see much of the caretakers. Had a quiet room at the back. Wifi works great. Wish they had breakfast as it...

I've stayed here several times and on other occasions other family members have too. It's convenient, clean, friendly, and great value. It's only small but definitely the best value in the entire country, not just in Madrid - at least - that's been my experience over the years. Great place to stay.

The location of the Hostal Armesto is perfect for art lovers, being only 5 minutes walk from the Thyssen Museum and less than 10 from the Prado. It is surrounded by luxury hotels and restaurants for all budgets. Situated on the first floor of a historic building - one of three hostals in this house - there is no lift,...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
