So I stayed here for a quick business trip, just one night. the hotel was OK, nothing special. the staff were great, and it relatively central. its a 15 minute walk to all the major attractions. I had the breakfast, while nothing special the coffee was good, and the Jamon was endless. this would be ok for someone looking for...

Very friendly service, making an effort to accommodate all our requests. There was a bit of a misunderstanding at check-in regarding room type, as we wanted separate beds - it was swiftly resolved and all with a smile. Very professional - Thank you!

I was just checking in here -- tripadvisor -- after our fourth or so stay at Gran Melia Fenix and I was really pleased by the reviews I just read: They absolutely describe this very comfortable hotel. The service is always friendly and, yes, Gemma is terrific; the eggs are a bit on the runny side but they are so...

Good location for visiting many museums and attractions, as well as shopping and restaurants of Salamanca area. Problem w/ 2-BR Red Level (well worth it!) suite upon checking in, however, hotel handled properly after first night and provided a fabulous alternative suite with fantastic amenities, views and furnishings. The Red Level staff was wonderful and personal - helpful with restaurants,...

I've just stayed at Gran Melia Fenix during a recent business trip to Madrid. The hotel is just beautiful, the rooms spacious, stunningly appointed & lavish. The staff were wonderful. Gemma in reception is so helpful & the breakfast staff in the mornings accommodate your every breakfast need. This hotel is a must on any business trip to Madrid.

Very helpful and friendly at the front desk. I think I asked them questions every day and every person at the desk was very nice. The hotel is very clean and very nice. We did have the breakfast included. It was a European type breakfast; breads, cheese, meats, Scrambled eggs (they were more on the runny side), bacon, hot dogs,...

Our room was richly appointed, had a spacious bathroom and was extremely comfortable. Great shopping and fabulous restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend shopping at any El Cortes Ingles nearby for anything from groceries (in the basement) to hardware to elegant clothing. Wish we had a department store like that in the States!

Wonderful place with exceptional service and beautiful design. Loved every moment we spent in here. We had standard room 209 which is small and has no view yet very cosy in its own way. We choose to upgrade to Red level service as we were tempted by the complimentary snacks and drinks- great decision no regrets. Thank you to all...

We chose this hotel because of the Red Level service that we had read about on Trip Advisor and the experience met our expectations. We were greeted at reception with a glass of champagne and made to feel very welcome. The Red Level lounge was an oasis of calm to come back to at the end of very busy days...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
