Excellent location, in the middle of all the tourist attractions. For example the Royal Palace, Puerta de Alcala, Plaza de Espana, Plaza Mayor, Museo del Prado, and all the shopping stores, bars, and restaurants.

When we first arrived, our room booking, which was definitely confirmed by email and made two days prior to arrival in Madrid, was not showing up in their system. I was sent a confirmation twice (I had asked for another one after hearing that we weren't in their system). After trying to figure out how to get this remedied for...

My husband and I came here and found the location to be perfect...walkable to many restaurants, shopping, and shows. When we came, they're in the middle of remodeling the front of the hotel, which is cool. We paid an extra 15€/night and felt that it wasn't worth it. They pretty much painted the rooms...it would've been nice if they changed...

An excellent location close to all major attractions and bus stops and metro all closeby even taxis are at easy reach. However hotel could do with a makeover. Rooms look dated and dark, lighting not bright enough in the rooms, but at least cleaned every day by staff and clean towels daily. Only negative thing i would say is the...

Stayed here in October. Nice hotel, clean, good rooms and helpful staff. The location is good too, just behind the Gran Via. Most places easily walkable. Would use it again. Madrid is a beautiful city!

Very satisfied of our stay in Madrid at Best Western Mayorazgo, I recommend for good quality and price satisfaction for a hotel booked with a German operator from Germany and we are French. The Hotel is very well located if you are looking for a central place within the city with all the calm of a village in the center...

Stayed with my wife for three nights in December 2014. Location is the best thing about this hotel. Right in Gran Via area with easy walking access to all shopping outlets, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. Rooms are just fine and nothing great about them. Heating is nice. The lift stinks like hell all the time and reception is very busy...

Just come back from a 3 night break in Madrid we picked up at an absolute bargain price on travelzoo. Given the price and very central location, I wasn't expecting the Ritz. The hotel was clean, comfortable, with good sized rooms (though you could hear next doors bathroom noises from our bathroom!) And with a huge comfy bed. Good continental...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
