Stayed at the Liabeny 1 night in a single room facing the inner "well". Generally, I felt satisfied because it's a very practical and conveniently located hotel. Liked: + Location: in the very centre, close to Puerta del Sol and the metro station (Sol and Gran Via as well). + Quietness at night!!! Extremely important in Madrid! My room didn't...

Had a fantastic stay and would definatly stay there again! In the middle of the city with everything within walking distance. Stay on a high floor and enjoy the breakfast that was good value! Rooms in need of a renovation but total okay

Good and friendly service, perfect location! I could easily and quickly prolong my stay. Close to 3 different metro lines, so easily accessible. Nice single room as well, enjoyed Madrid due to Liabany.

Nice comfortable room, towards the back, so no view, but also no street noises, as that area can get a bit busy. In the middle of the shopping area, with easy walk to Gran Via and the subway stations nearby. Concierge and bell-man very helpful. Breakfast buffet was plentiful with hot stuff (not just the typical continental breakfasts). Air-conditioning works...

What a perfect choice. City centre location. Could walk everywhere. No more than 25 min walk from any major sight. Beautiful hotel and staff. Nothing was too much trouble for everyone from front desk to breakfast team to bar guys. Breakfast choice was superb. Why would anyone stay anywhere else. Got complimentary bottle of Cava on day 1 that they...

We picked this hotel after some research and multiple reviews. The "back" of the hotel room was very quiet, despite very faint noise from the street. The room was well equipped, comfortable, cleaned nicely and the breakfast buffet was extremely complete, lasting till 10:30. The staff was very accommodating. The location, a few blocks from the Puerta del Sol was...

Great service throughout with a comfortable bedroom. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and staff on hand if needed. Concierge was helpful in organising taxis, confirming opening times and checking availability. Location only a short walk from the Gran Via and metro. Able to walk to most attractions from the hotel.

This is a really nice, well maintained hotel. It is traditional and has the ambience of an upmarket hotel. It is in a really good spot with access to many of the main attractions nearby. The public areas and rooms were nice and of a high standard. There were quite a few of us in our group and we all...

The hotel is right next to Puerta del Sol so it is easily accessible. Guests need to use their room key to activate the elevator at the lobby so it feels safe. The hotel room is clean and has a safe in it. Wifi is very stable and we have no problem with it. Overall I think it is a...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
