I stayed at the Hotel Liabeny for my 24th birthday and can't recommend it more highly. We were looking for somewhere that was pretty central and the Hotel Liabeny fitted the bill. Right at the Gran Via and close to both Puerta Del Sol and Plaza Major the hotel can easily be reached by train from the airport changing at...

We picked the hotel originally for its location and it being four stars, and we weren't disappointed. The Liabeny is right in the centre of Madrid, meaning all of the main sights are genuinely within walking distance. Should you wish to get the metro, Sol, a main hub is a minute's walk away. The room was very spacious with all...

Our stay was a 3 night stay in a triple room in the Liabeny hotel in the centre of Madrid. The hotel is brilliantly located to all the main attractions and restaurants. Our triple room was slightly on the small size but had a sofa bed. Only English channels on TV are Sky News and BBC World News which is...

This hotel is located in a fantastic position near both Gran Via and Sol square. Most of the sites were within walking distance. Hotel is clean and beds were comfortable. There is a fridge (mini bar) and a safe in the room. Our room was always a bit on the warm side and we couldn't seem to get the balance...

Great location in the center of Madrid and walking distance to so many places. Room was small but was still a very good value for the money. Hotel Staff was helpful. If I were to go back to Madrid, I would definitely stay here again.

You can fall out of bed, after a 3am club, and be right in the heart of things, staying at the Liabeny. Location is perfect, minites from the Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol, and the renowned 'Chocolateria San Gines'!! Best Churros and chocolate in the city... Check in was super efficient and friendly. The doorman was lovely, always polite...

Excellent location and servide sums it up for this hotel. And when it even comes at a reasonable price there are really no reason to complain. The location right in the middle of the city can't be better. The service is fine all the way and so is the breakfast buffet.

Hotel much better than expected as 3 star, we were a party of 6, all rooms of good standard and size even the single rooms. Staff very helpful and pleasant, the breakfast had plenty of choice and was always fresh, we had a lunch time snack on one day which was very good and reasonably priced. The location was close...

Quiet rooms with easy access to plaza del sol great central location. Rooms quiet good internet access and decent breakfast. If you are early riser or need to leave before 7 for airport there is no coffee available and on weekends no cafes open either. Other than that overall, clean, comfortable and good deal.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
