Hotel is perfectly placed for sightseeing, everything that we wanted was within 30 minutes walk of our location, yet situated in a quiet square off the main routes. The hotel itself is very modern in the downstairs public areas, with more traditional bedrooms. Bedroom (314)was huge with a balcony overlooking the square, excellent double doors onto the Balcony meant it...

Last year we had a standard room with Executive Breakfast is still excellent. Lunch and dinner in the restaurant last year were excellent. This year it was not bad, but sure not excellent. Still the price for a lunch, 14 euros, three gang with a free drink, is very good. Reception correct and friendly. Thanks to Mika from the restaurant...

What a wonderful find. It is in a perfect location to explore Madrid, being on a quiet square close to everything. It is a quirky hotel. We had four rooms on different floors and each room was a different size and layout. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a bonus- lots of lovely breads cheeses ham, cereals, yoghurts and...

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as part of an independent tour package through Avanti of Oregon. The location is near many shops, restaurants, and sights. It is a very quiet plaza. The staff was very helpful with booking tickets and giving directions. The breakfast buffet was extensive. We enjoyed drinks in the cozy lobby and at the...

This boutique hotel is a little dated. The rooms are kept very clean. The is a nice bar just off the lobby. The breakfast buffet was nice. Short walk to shopping and restaurants. The palace and prada are a 20 minute walk. Would easily stay again.

We had room 302 which is an outside facing room. The room was a good size, everything worked well, including the shower which was powerful. Breakfast is great, especially if like me you like your pastries! The location really is good, the quietness of the Plaza San Martin means you don't get much street noise, but you are wonderfully close...

The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Madrid. It is an easy walk to the Plaza Mayor, the royal palace, the Prado and to hundreds of restaurants and shops. It is in a cozy area that is medieval-ish. During the day, you can stroll at your leisure, slip into and out of shops and be close to the...

This was a good hotel in great location. I personally had bad time sleeping because the mattress was horrible but that is only down fall. They have amazing food at their restaurant! Try their hamburger that has goat cheese and their calamari.

My partner and I stayed 4 nights in September. The location is superb. We walked absolutely everywhere. The accommodation is fine. The supermarket is near-by. I particularly recommend to all Australians.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
