Stayed at Intercontinental 5* Hotel on Paseo de Castellane next to Gregorio Maranon metro station. Hotel excellent and faultless service. Rooms, food and service 1st class. Bought 3-day travel pass [18.40 euros] and was well worth it. Madrid metro much better than London metro but it transports fewer passengers. Sandeman's "free tour" was excellent - thanks Sebastian! - and provided...

We stayed at Madrid IC for two nights in early May. Excellent service in all areas - reception, concierge, bar/restaurant. Clean, well appointed room. Breakfast was very nice. The hotel is not very central, but close enough to all the main attractions. Madrid is a beautiful city. We enjoyed trips to the Palace and the Bernabeu. But our favourite find...

Very nice room and comfortable bed. The bathroom was also great. Clean rooms and nice lobby. I did not eat there, so couldn't comment. The staff was very friendly especially the doorman, who was not only helpful, but delightful. My only complaints are (1) the location, as you are not in area with a lot of cafes and stores. There...

Stayed here recently for two nights. Located 5 minutes from a metro stop and a twenty five minute walk to Prado Museum and all the others located nearby. Walk from the hotel in the shaded tree lined avenue. For those of you that like walking the old Centre of Town is another 20 minutes away or a very short metro...

I think that my biggest disappointment with this hotel was that the view wasn't as good as most of the other hotels I've stayed at in Europe but it was still a very nice room and the staff/service was excellent. Upon arrival, my TV didn't work so they replaced it quickly. It's clean but showing some bumps and bruises due...

Stayed here on a business trip for 2 nights. Found all the staff to be very polite, helpful and welcoming. The room was superb with a massive bathroom, hallway and separate lounge area. Business centre was also excellent. Quite a long walk (about 2 miles) from the old town though - I didn't mind as I enjoyed some great walks...

Great hotel, rooms are very nice and a very friendly staff. The hotel has a great location and it is not noisy it all. The breakfast is average, workout facility is more than ok and perhaps only the quality of the coffee needs to improve. The executive club is very confortable

I stayed in Madrid for three days. I chose InterContinental because I'm member in IHG, it was bad decision! The room and bed are too small with old furnitures, breakfast is below average. It is business center more that hotel. The hotel location is too far from city center. Thus I didn't recommend this hotel for people who are looking...

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
