My stay in Madrid has been amazing in many ways. But this hotel is a place NEVER to come back. They are doing some arrangements on the entrance, and it is all a chaos. Lobby staff is nowhere to wind and the phone service is not working. The lack of professional (though basic) service has ruined my communication with a...

Starting with the good... great central location, next to the Arguelles metro station. The refurbished rooms are good size, clean, with lovely big beds & a well priced minibar. Overall the hotel was very good value for money (and they should try to keep it this way!). Some of the reception staff were helpful - when needed maps, directions etc....

I had stayed here many years ago and on this trip I decided to return. I was not sorry. I was there twice, first for 1 night, and a week later for 2. Both times I was received professionally and warmly. Nice rooms, with an in-room safe, good bathroom, comfy beds. Small problems (telephone issues, airconditioning which I couldn't figure...

The hotel is conveniently smack on the shopping area of El Corte Ingles. It is walking distance to their downtown where there are a lot of theaters and other kinds of shops. Room is clean and comfortable but was a bit turned off with the HUGE replica oil-painting portrait as the head bed. Was surprised that you got to ask...

We stayed here for three nights, during November. Compare to hotels in Paris and Barcelona, I felt I am in a Four star Hotel. This is a proper hotel, but bit Old and refurbished I believe. Rooms are huge, Breakfast was good, reception not very friendly except some woman staff. Internet is chargeable and they gave access to only one...

Pros: It is clean. Centrally located. Cons: Typically European meaning they make you pay for a refurbished room, it is an extra €29 a night. The fridge in the room was not cold at all. So don't think you can keep things refrigerated. Oh and get this, you can NEVER reach the front desk. The phones say " press M1...

Nice view of the city from the 12th floor out the front. Hard to adjust the temp, and the room felt too warm, in general. Breakfast was great but VERY crowded. The rugs should be cleaned or replaced and had a big yuk factor. Nice, big, good beds. Front desk understaffed and seemed hassled. Good central location. No reliable wifi....

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
