Everything was outstanding during our recent stay. The building is marvelous and well maintained and attention is given to every detail in the rooms including the highest quality linens. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is great and we were able toe easily walk to top museums and the throughout the old downtown section. Other... More

My Husband and I have just returned from a four night stay in Madrid. Our suite on the 5th floor was lovely. Extremely comfortable and furnishings of a very high standard. Within two hours of our arrival most of the staff addressed us by our names. We dined each evening in the Goya Restaurant and had some wonderful food. The... More

I have stayed in Madrid many times and now always stay at the Ritz as it is a classic top hotel whilst still retaining a lovely Spanish influence. The service is impeccable and the rooms are oppulent. Sadly though the restauarnt needs to have an updated menu and probably a new chef as I have not been happy eating there.... More

Hotel Ritz Madrid is in the heart of Madrid. It offers peace and background in a very pleasant environment. The staff is very nice. Very nice breakfast in the beautiful surroundings of the hotel's breakfast restaurant.

The concierge was very helpful but the restaurant and bar staff rather unsmiling. We had organised for sixteen friends to stay and most of us were staying in suites. Our friends who stayed on the second floor in a suite were kept awake until 5am with a wedding disco on the ground floor and quite frankly this is not on.... More

Double-billing problems requiring hours of emailing to rectify. Given a double-bed instead of the booked King-size bed. Dirty, worn carpet in bedroom. Inattentive service in Goya restaurant and when very under-cooked fowl sent back to kitchen, no offer made to replace, had to pay for another entree. Door lock to room did not work, had to make several calls to... More

This is the king of hotel my grandparents stayed in. Its a bit of a classic in Madrid. It has an amazing location and a beautiful building. Great staff and food. The rooms are quite old though and it's a bit overpriced for what you could find in Madrid. They seriously need to renovate the rooms to make it competitive,... More

The warmth of the staff made our stay as warm during thre cold days of January. The room was spacious and well furnished and ventalized. The bed is so comfortable that one doesn't want to leave it 😂 Cleaning was done twice a day , a quality of service one doesn't always get at some hotels. Luxury is galore at... More

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and, of course, I liked it just as much. The Ritz never disappoints. Of course, the rooms are very nice and the service is extremely polite and professional, but the nicest thing about the Ritz in Madrid is it's location. It's literally right next to the Prado, right on the... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
