The hotel is well located in the centre of the city close to all the main attractions and a 30euro cab drive from the airport. A large legacy building which although comfortable is looking scruffy around the edges. We had a junior suite with good views from the bedroom and bathroom. The room amd bathroom were large and spacious but...

Lovely old hotel. Beautiful , spacious and quiet rooms. Every single staff member with whom i interacted was thoughtful, polite, helpful, and managed to convince me they cared to help and yet were never obsequious. Wonderful. The location is perfect. Of course, it's not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for! Next time i'm in Madrid i won't...

We stayed here for three nights at the end of our trip through Spain. We were greeted by probably the best check in service I have ever had. Very friendly and deferential. Our room was one of the courtyard rooms. When you stay at a hotel like the Ritz, set your expectations correctly-the room was spacious for the two of...

I usually don't bother to review well-worn sites, but would like to give a shout-out to the Ritz in Madrid. It was indeed luxury (the closets! the foyer!) but not snobbish...the staff seemed genuinely pleased to be there and were helpful at every turn. We had a room with no view but frankly, the space and appointments were all we...

One of my favorite hotel in Madrid. I was there for 4 night, my room was lovely. The breakfast is a kind of "all you can eat" but it was excellent. I went to dinner at "Goya" restaurant that situated near the entrance of the hotel, food & service was fantastic. Don't forget to try the afternoon tea at the...

The only reason to stay there is tradition and famous name if you like to be snobbish. The facilities are very old and not renowated. The water in bathroom is brown so I dont recomend a bath. The carpet was not vacum cleaned for 5 days of our stay. Our Deluxe Room was much, much smaller than on the pictures...

Stayed for one night in this historic Madrid hotel. Service is fantastic, and everyone at the hotel was pleasant and helpful. However, the condition of the rooms is not what's expected of a five star property managed by Mandarin Oriental. The bathrooms show their age, mattress is old and uncomfortable, and there is smell in the carpeting. It's a nice...

It is a historic hotel that has been beautifully maintained. The rooms are somewhat dated but very very comfortable. It is close to Prado Museum. And you can use it as a base to walk all over town. Client support is superb.

We stayed at the Ritz on our first night of a recent business trip. The hotel picked us up at the airport - the pick-up process was seamless and fast. We were a weary after an overnight flight and, luckily, the kind staff at the front desk was able to find us a room that had just been cleaned an...

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. The room was showing its age. Yes, the hotel is old but beautifully maintained. The staff members were helpful. The best part of their service is they pay very close attention to the guests and they are there when you need them. Not too much, not too heavy but their service is...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
