The hotel is conveniently located to the Metro, tour companies, and Madrid attractions. Breakfast is included and the hotel is economically priced. We stayed in exactly the same room we had in 2011, but were saddened to see that the hotel is not being well maintained: the chair in our room was badly ripped, the bathroom needed some deep cleaning,...

Dear dedlund, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. It truly saddens me that your second stay failed to match your first one, a first stay that made you confident and happy enough to return for another experience. We want to ensure you that we value this feedback and take it very seriously.

Stayed here for 5 nights for a long weekend break with my wife (her first visit to Madrid). Having looked at earlier reviews I elected to book direct with the hotel and chose one of their 8th floor rooms with a balcony and jacuzzi to add a little sparkle to our trip. The location of this hotel is superb for...

This hotel has an excellent location, in a quiet area, very close to city center. The room was just great and had some features I have never seen before. Staff is super friendly and really manage to deliver service way beyond what you expect as a business traveller! This is by far the best hotel experience I have ever had...

I must confess, we found this hotel through a Rick Steve's recommendation. I guess there is a reason he is well known for travel. This is a first rate hotel. Our room was on a high floor to avoid some street noise. Large room with a fabulous bathroom by European standard. The room also came with a full breakfast buffet....

The hotel is quite literally 2-3 minutes across the road and to the left of Opera station, very well placed for walking to most of the key sights, surrounded by lots of lovely places to eat. The staff were friendly and the bedroom well appointed. The café which is part of the hotel was good for a light lunch and...

Our four day stay was uneventful as far as the hotel part, which is a good thing. Nice staff, nice clean room with a window that opened. The location is very good: A nice walk to Plaza Major, a bit longer to Puerta del Sol; a metro stop is diagonally across the plaza from the hotel, with easy access to...

Great Hotel, good clean rooms, friendly staff and good facilities but hotel bar wasn't staffed while we were there. (October) Good breakfast. Close to the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and St Miguel Market.

I was in Madrid on a business trip and the location of this hotel helped me see a lot of this city since it was my first trip to Spain. I was placed in a relatively small room yet the hotel in general is good. The Café Opera is also a good place to eat at.

Not bad as a hotel, but a totally ridiculous scam on the price of the rooms. I reserved for three days. The first night was at 90 Euros, the third at 217 and the fourth at 417 Euros. Never saw anything like it. Apparently, it's like the stock market. High demand, you raise the price of the room. Same room....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
