The location was excellent and The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and provided some good eating places to go. 24 hour manned front desk as you are not allowed to take your key with you. I emailed the Hostal via Booking.com twice before we left asking for a double bed - the only response we got was will be allocated... More

The service was awful from check-in to check-out. The whole place belongs in the 70s/80s. Our room was very poor for the price we paid. It did not resemble any of the photos. The towels are so old and hard that they are unusable... bring your own if you book. The cleaning women were very nice but the men at... More

Loved the location and service here. This is my second time in a month. 58 euros for a room with 3 beds is good. The hostal has good room service. Concierge is important for me as they set the tone. Location is unbelievable. Close to airport bus service and all great things are within 20 min walk from here. Shopping... More

This hotel has an excellent location in Madrid. Everything at few steps away (shopping streets where you can find Primark, restaurants, pharmacies, bookshops). Few minutes walk from El Corte Ingles, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The receptionists are very friendly. The room is quite, you don't hear noise from the streets as I thought by reading other reviews but... More

The hotel is situated at second floor of a building in Calle de las Infantas, just one roadaway from Gran Via. Despite the outside aspect, inside the hotel is clean and the personnel is helpful. Our room was basic with no fancy, but it had all needed stuff, even if the bathroom was quite small. Two bad points: you have to... More

We found this Hostal in the Eyewitness Guide to Madrid and were intrigued as in former times it's claim to fame was as a brothel for the Aristocracy. Those days are long gone and the hotel has lots of character and is spotlessly clean. The staff were extremely friendly courteous and helpful. The hotel is very well situated being a... More

Good location, lots of character, very friendly and helpful staff. Room very clean, reasonable size, shower good. Only downside a bit noisy from the street at night, but we got used to it. Doesn't do breakfast but plenty of cafes nearby

Here in Hostal Greco you find everything you're looking for: tidy and clean rooms, confortable bed, excellent location (50 meters from Gran Via metro) and -last but not least- a fantastic staff: they are the most gentle persons you can find and they make you feel like home.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
