Never judge a book by its cover! On arrival, we thought we had arrived at the wrong destination as the ground floor entrance is like residential apartments with letter boxes on the wall. However, make your way to the first floor and you'll find Abel Victoriano on the right hand side. Inside, is a modern and clean guest house with... More

The facilities in the Hostal were fantastic, rooms clean, lovely hot water after a hard day walking around the city. The staff were fantastic the girl behind the desk (sorry don't know her... More

Just visited this hostel for valentines weekend with friends. Have never been to such a friendly and lovely place. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly and very informative. The rooms are small and compact but everything you need. The location is brilliant with location right next to the metro. Everything was great in this hostel and can recommend this... More

The rooms may not be the largest you will ever stay in but in terms of tasteful, clean and functional rooms - this place takes some beating for the price. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the central hub Sun Plaza etc but being just off Grand Via means there is still loads to see and do. There... More

When you reach the reception you receive a genuine smile. The rooms are not the biggest i've stayed in but the room was clean colourful and the towel was made into an animal like on cruise ships, a nice touch. The Hostel was perfectly placed, plenty to see in walking distance but also only a few yards from the Metro... More

The hostal is centraly located, 7 minutes walk from plaza du Sol. Really close to everything!!! Recently rennovated, modern and clean. The hotel staff is very kind. The area is safe. There are a couple of small supermarkets around. Our room was quiet. The room was a bit small with a small balcony as well. But is all we needed.... More

Good things: Location: On a side street to the Gran Via, close to the center, but still quiet. Metro station very close, connection to airport with only one change. Very nice staff. Possibility to leave the luggage if the plane is leaving late. Complimentary cava. Might be a small thing, but it really makes you feel welcome. Not-so good: Bathroom:... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
