Well you need to be open minded.... it is not a 5 star hotel. It is really economic!!! As it is common in Europe many places have share bathrooms and twin beds. The room was really clean and I loved my bed really confortable after a day of walking and enjoying Madrid. My bedroom had a small balcony but u...

Horrible place, despite the great location. The rooms DO NOT HAVE WINDOWS!! You can choose between opening a pannel over the door and get tons of light and noise from the hall every time someone goes to the common WC during the night, or close it and slowly roast due to the heat. Of course, you can try the ceiling...

Dreadful. I ended up checking into somewhere else after 3 hours of trying to sleep while the woman owner argued on the phone outside my windowless room door ( I lie, there was a window, but jammed open and about 8 foot off the floor, and onto a living room, not outside). She argued with me when I told her...

Manager was super welcoming and accommodating. She told us places that were a must see in Madrid with maps & tour guides. Rooms, washrooms clean and tidy. By far the best hostel + no ear plugs needed.

The location is great, the room are okay! The owner was rude one the first day! Then we didn't speak to her again until the last day and she was nicer! We almost thought it was a different person. The shower was good, it takes a while to understand. Only two toilets though, not good then you wake up and...

How can these people still be in business??? They are so bad it's almost funny... I am writing this review on behalf of my mum. My mum missed the cancelation deadline by 1 minute. Their cancelation deadline is 12 midday, not 12 midnight like every other hotel. But fair enough - we missed the deadline, our mistake. But... The hostel...

My friend and I stayed her for 4 nights in August. I was greated by a guy who tried his upmost to speak English with me and was very friendly. Their card machine was broken so luckily I had cash to pay for our stay. I had a choice of two rooms. The one I chose had a single, double...

This hostal seems to be a converted apartment with 3 or 4 rooms. You can hear your neighbors through the walls. The in room shower is just that - a shower stall right in the corner of the bedroom - no privacy, but that doesn't matter because it didn't work. I had to go down the hall to the community...

My wife and I stayed there in December of 2013 actually. I waited to write this review because I was waiting to see if the hotel returned my 75 euros that they double-charged me. I called once I got back to my country and the lady in charge pretended that she couldn't hear me well as soon as I told...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
