I had one night there, not staying too much at the hostel. But what I saw was a good standard, good service, pretty good value for your money. They've also got events and stuff happening, so there is always something to join if you don't have other plans. I got a good free walking tour with a girl named Clare,...

The staff was incredibly friendly (Facundo was my homie). They had all types of tours available during the day and many events each night of the week. One of the best hostels I stayed at while in Spain and very reasonably priced for the great service I recieved. Rooms and bathrooms were cleaned daily. Overall great experience at las Musas

I loved it. The staff was really really great and super friendly. It was a really good location near all the local attractions. It was super fun and they do events every night. What more could you want?

Our first stop when travelling so weren't there for long but from top to bottom an ubelievable stay. Had World Cup games on in the lounge, really helpful staff, and a lot of events being run from the hostel. It's no wonder that they have won awards in previous years. Not a far walk from Sol square. Stayed in a...

We had a great time in Las Musas. The staff was kind and helpful, the rooms were clean and quiet. The elevetaor is really small, so you if you have bags you must take it alone, but the stairs can be used too. Breakfast was as detailed in the hostel website, and wifi worked perfectly. Everything worked as planned, really.

I stayed at Las Musas at the beginning of my vacation arriving in Spain and then at the end before leaving Spain and I really enjoyed my stay there. The rooms are reliable and comfortable. I appreciated the airport shuttle service that is coordinated for you too. The only negative was the bathroom on the 3rd floor was broken and...

We stayed in a different Madrid hostel during our first week and the two could not have been more different. That one was like a pension, very nice and quiet but no shared community spaces. This is a real hostel. A wonderful woman prepares paella in the evening and sells plates for a pittance, group events occur daily. I'm 42...

This hostel was quite good and the only negative thing I have to say about it was that it was extremely noisy....like little kids running up and down and halls and screaming. It is on a main street and there is also a lot of noise from outside (that they can't control.) The staff was very friendly and helpful. The...

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
