Location is perfect, 100 meters away from Metro Station Plaza España, 30 minutes by metro from Barajas airport, walking distance to some of the higlights of the city like Plaza del Sol, Palacio Real and Mercadito de San Miguel. The Staff was really friendly! we arrived at 01:00am and the guy at the frontdesk was there with a big smile... More

The good - location :) - right opposite plaza espana n the best place to start walk of gran via. Close to hop on stop. - breakfast was decent. - hotel gave a little 80's Madrid feel which we found charming. - staff were quite nice. - value for money. - room size. The bad - just a basic hotel... A charming hotel that offers an excellent breakfast for under €10, so it is well worth adding it onto the hotel cost. The room was an excellent size, with a small kitchen, including a fridge and hotplates and was airconditioned. It offers free Wi-Fi. It is half a block from the Plaza de España Metro and within walking distance of... More

A very reasonably priced tourist class hotel. Staff were nice, could be a bit cleaner, but not a real problem. Nice to have a little kitchen. The breakfast is continental, but if you ask they will make you bacon and eggs. Fresh orange juice and coffee is a nice way to start your day. The big plus is the location,... More

good price, near the royal palace, 15 mins walk from city centre. Old infrastructure, really needs overhaul, airco equipment noisy (in different rooms same problem), traffic outside can be burden especially when police or ambulances pass by. Hygiene ok, staff very friendly. I would spend a bit more per night and find a different place.

The hotel rooms are comfortable good size rooms with a kitchen area. Hotel is very close to Gran Via main shopping area and close to Palace both can be walked to in under 10 minutes. Nearest Metro stop is Plaza De Espana just across the road from hotel there you can access yellow and blue line. Also across the road... More

This hotel is located in Plaza de Espana, which is a really good point to start visiting Madrid; only 2 minutes from the Gran Via with its shops and restaurants and 5 minutes from the Royal Palace which is one of the major attractions. Our room was spacious even for three people with a small kitchen inside, it was clean... More

Upon arrival our room had a terrible tobacco smell and two single beds although we specified that we needed one double bed. After much insistence and making absolutely clear that we had to get a room change, staff found a way to do so (even after mentioning this was impossible). Previously, we asked (using the Booking.com app chat) how much... More

We stayed here for three nights on our trip to Madrid. What we liked about this hotel was particularly great location to nightlife and a metro station is which less than a block. The usual check-in time is noon but since we got there early due to our early flight, the staff was cool to offer us room as soon... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
