On this trip to Barcelona, for our two-night stay, we wanted a different neighborhood farther away from the usual tourist spots. This hotel and its comfortable neighborhood turned out to be exactly what we were looking for! The hotel is close to Montjuic Park (with its many tulips and other flowers), and the Miro Museum which we enjoyed immensely. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It overlooked the park. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Very pleasant boutique hotel in Poble Sec. The hotel is close to the Metro Parallel and Montjuïc Park. This is a neighbourhood of Barcelona where people actually live. It is not a very posh and rather quiet neighbourhood, at least at the time we were there (March). There is a street with tapas bars, ice cream parlours and a churreria very close by where the neighbours meet in the evening. The reception at the hotel was very welcoming. The staff are very friendly and dedicated. They really seem to enjoy working at the Hotel Brummell. The design of the entrance area is appealing. There is a shop area with Barcelona design objects. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar, but they are not open every day. The restaurant has a modern design and the bar is cosy. The restaurant was well frequented by locals. There is a small outdoor pool on the first floor with terrace, which we unfortunately could not use as the weather was a bit rainy. The rooms themselves are ok, nicely designed but nothing extraordinary. We had a mountain view and overlooked the green Montjuic, which is probably exceptional for Barcelona. The breakfast served has its price - 16€ per person - but it is nicely presented and has a nice etagere with lots of things to try and taste. However, it's not something for every morning. A bit more choice would be desirable. In summary, Hotel Brummell was the perfect place for a long weekend. We would book it again on our next visit to Barcelona.…
The Brummell is squarely aimed at hipsters. So much so that I will not recommend it for business travelers. . That means design or 'cool' will outweigh function or even comfort. Rooms are pretty small, with a desk, a large bed and a frame-based storage unit for hanging shirts, holding the tiniest of fridges, difficult to access micro-safe and an electric water kettle. This is insufficient for anyone looking to hold more than a couple of shirts and a jacket. There are no drawers or anywhere to put shirts, socks or underwear. Keep them in the suitcase I guess. The bathroom is a narrow rectangle housing both toilet and shower. Toilet paper rolls are oddly positioned at shoulder height. There are several electric outlets but shockingly, none at the desk. All outlets use the European standard and none offer multi-prong charging. Location-wise you are in residential neighborhood, a bit removed from a metro station or cab traffic. The hotel is uphill, so if you do take the metro expect to climb a rather steep hill. While the neighborhood itself is pleasant with a charming pedestrian street nearby, it is across a major street from a much less welcoming area which we stumbled into. On the fourth floor, there was street and outdoor noise with the window closed. Clearly, if you are a YOUNG couple and get one of the rooms with the outdoor balcony tub, this can be found romantic. Or just stay away from the room, I guess. Still, it is a bit of a hipster trap and I am clearly not the target audience. I do thing Barcelona has much better to offer for the same money.…
We stayed one night as a staycation in the Mountain Deluxe room to celebrate a birthday as a couple, and we really enjoyed our stay! All staff was very friendly, the atmosphere in the place was very positive and welcoming, we really liked the Honest Bar concept too! The pool area with its amazing decor were our favourites, very beautiful and comfortable for chilling out. Breakfast was really good too. Only one minor yet important thing as a suggestion; there was no toilet brush in the bathroom!
I originally booked two weeks at this hotel for a work/vacation trip but loved it so much that I extended for another week. First of all, the staff is exceptional. Reception staff will greeted me with an infectious smile and good energy everyday and went above and beyond to accommodate some of my requests and to make the hotel feel like home. The housekeeping staff were equally as friendly and helpful, and did an excellent job cleaning and prepping my room everyday in an efficient manner. The property itself is wonderful. I felt very much at home for the last few weeks and was able to enjoy the various indoor and outdoor spaces for work and leisure. The hotel is meticulous in ensuring the space is well organized, welcoming and inviting. The honesty bar is a nice touch and the delicious Palo Cortao restaurant was also a great addition to the property. The terrace space is simply sublime and it is great for relaxing and taking a breather or socialising with friends. I can’t fault it. Don’t forget to say hello to the surrounding neighbours :) I couldn’t have asked for a better residence these past few weeks. It is rare to find a property that has such defining soul and character to match the aesthetically well thought of interior and exterior design. The spaces are very functional but equally playful and comfortable. A rare triple threat. What’s more, the hotel seems to take care of its staff very well and engages the vibrant and eclectic community it is in. If you want to feel like a local and ‘at home’ during your stay in Barcelona then I can’t recommend Hotel Brummel enough. I’ve visited Barcelona many times and know the city well, and I am glad that I can still find rare gems like this during my stay in the city.…
