I stayed here for four days on business. The rooms are as basic as I've ever seen. The location and pleasant staff are excellent, but the rooms are tiny. The immediate area around the hotel is run down and there are a lot of drug addicts and prostitutes in the area. In saying that, I felt relatively safe and was...

The hotel is in touristic city area. The hotel's street is crossing Rambla street. The subway is less than 10 minutes walk. Room has all the elementary things, very basic, but enough. The room is small ( I was in a single room).Hotel has breakfast room. Breakfast is satisfactory, but also basic. Free wifi in rooms and everywhere in hotel,...

I've been returning to this place for 10 years now, and I would definitely recommend it. It is cheap, and it is in a great position: it's clean and has wifi and a nice breakfast included. At least for me these are the most important things. I started to use this hotel when El Raval was a quite more dodgy...

This is October 4th, I have been traveling since August 29th, staying in hotels from Denmark on down to Spain. This is the worse hotel I have been in and I even stayed in a pension in Prague. The bed was hard and lumpy. I could not work the blinds to cut out the morning light, finally, this morning the...

We stayed in two rooms for two nights and found the hotel to be in a good location very close to Las Ramblas on a small but busy multi-cultural side street. It is a good location for walking to see this part of Barcelona; it is possible to walk to the beach, although it is about a 30 minute walk....

I stayed at the residence for a long weekend. The room was very basic, but clean and cheap, and in a superb location, only minutes from Las Ramblas. Breakfast is basic but perfectly fine, staff are very friendly and helpful. A great base when you don't want to break the bank but want somewhere comfortable and central to stay.

I stayed 11 nights at the Residencia. The rooms are basic, but very clean and quite cheap. I paid about 60 euros per night. The rooms are serviced daily and have air conditioning. Breakfast is also basic, but since eating late at night is the norm in Barcelona I didn't feel the need for breakfast next morning. The location is...

I stayed at the residence for a week in July with my husband, partly for work and also for a city break. It is really conveniently located, a 10 minute walk from the airport bus drop off at the placa de catalunya. The street is just off the Las Ramblas and 5 minutes from Liceu metro station. By crossing directly...

I stayed at the hotel for a week in late April 2013 and enjoyed my stay. The location is great , 7 min walk from la rambles liceu station, 5 min from the market, near the university so many young people. Its very simple and basic but met my requirements for a place to sleep and shower for a decent...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
