Normally, it would be 3/5. But in Barcelona everything is below average, so Hostal Aribau was a nice surprise. It was quiet, clean, and I received my own keys (that's not obvious, there are still hotels where you will be asked to return them every time you go out). I definitely will be back - staff is nice, they don't...

Spent 3 nights here. Very small hotel, we were given the room right behind the reception, we could litterly hear everything, we would wake up every morning due guest comming in. Staff is friendly but doesnt speak a word english. The showercabin is so small I can't turn once in there. They did change the sheets daily but no cleaning....

Stayed here for three nights. Room was ok with en-suite. Clean and tidy and relatively inexpensive. About a ten minute walk from Plaza Catalunya and near to the Aerobus stop at Plaza Universitat. Small supermarkets nearby and the excellent La Flauta is a few metres away. Fine for a few nights.

very good location, nice staff, clean room, good value for your money. Don't expect more than you can expect from a 1 star hotel, but the friendly and helpful attitude of the owners makes your stay happy and pleasant. I'd definitely come back here.

We stayed for four nights at the Hostal Aribau. The staff is very kind and obliging. They cleaned the room every day. There is no luxury of course but it is kind of cosy, so the price is appropriate. You are after a ten minute walk at the Catalunya. But there are also shops at the University which you reach...

We stayed here on a Friday & Saturday in August, so finding a decently priced place was not easy. This place was okay. The bed was old, the shower was tiny and leaked, and the bathroom didn't always smell the best. No Wifi, and the closest option was Starbucks 3 blocks away. The AC was strong, the room was quiet,...

We had the hard time to find an appropriate place for reasonable price in Barcelona and we found this place quite ok for our 3 night stay.Rooms were small and pretty basic with small funny bathrooms. Small window only in the bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful ( but didn't speak English, however not a problem if you speak...

Don't believe the Web site description--(lovely room, king-size bed). While the location was good--close to the metro and within walking distance of the Las Ramblas, the primary room was very small, the bed squeaked just turning over (a double, older than Methuselah), the shower stall so small, you couldn't turn around, and the lift creaked, groaned and thumped all night...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
