Detailed Reviews
I personally love this hostel, it’s one of, if not the best I have stayed in thus far. From the location to the events held it is amazing.
Firstly, the hostel is located right in the middle of the city and there is always life around the hostel, you walk out and are straight into the busy city life, which I love. The hostel is a 2 minute walk away from the metro station and only 2 minutes on the metro from Las Ramblas and only a 10 minute walk from the same place.
Secondly, the events here are almost perfect, we did the bar crawl which was fun and we met some great people but the only problem was, each bar was booked out for us so the atmosphere was next to nothing and the time spent in each bar was minimal, very rushed with maximum 15 mins in each. The club at the end was good but extremely overpriced with a bottle of water even being €5 I can’t even imagine what a pint would be.
Overall I highly recommend this hostel as the staff are amazing and the room was very good with each other person in the room being nice and we met some genuine friends there.

You couldn't ask for a better location in the heart of everything important, for a megahostel (it's huge) they take good care of you. The views of the sunsets along Passeig de Gràcia are very well appreciated in the terrace bar.
There are many attractions near the hostel, such as Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Barrio de Gràcia, Plaza Cataluña. Walking to the Sagrada Familia 20 minutes. The subway is at the exit, which makes it very convenient.

Having booked pre Covid at a different safestay hosel in Barcelona we were finally able to travel 2 years later. We were unable to get a refund even though the travel restrictions were in place but they did let us move our booking to another date.
The location of this hostel very good with metro access straight outside and plenty of shops and restaurants. The breakfast was from €2.50 up to €5.50 which was extra on top of our rooms rate. We stayed in a 6 person female dorm with an en-suite. The room was basic but clean and was the perfect base for a city break as you don’t spend much time in the room. Remember to bring a padlock for the locker. There is a roof terrace but no seating or bar available which is a shame. The only negatives are the staff on reception weren’t very friendly and you have to pay €2 to store luggage once you have checked out. This service is free on your arrival day but for some reason not once you have checked out.

While the staff at this location will say the right things to please you and the rooms are suited so you can just survive. I would avoid his hostel entirely. Unless you enjoy see-through shower doors in the restrooms, a sauna of a room even with AC on full blast, extremely uncomfortable beds and the inabilities to get any change or lock your door to the cleaning crews. Very unsatisfactory and no matter how much you precept, they will ask for more $$$ at check in. Good luck!

Cleanliness: The room and the hôstel is generally clean except that they dont provide bathroom/toilet floor towel/rags so expect for a messy bathroom floor. Room 508: cant lock the bathroom from inside.
Perfect location. Very close to the métro, luxury shops (feels like the champs Élysée of Barcelona) and some shops (Mango, Nike, etc). Casa Battlo is just few hops from the hôstel. Sagrada Familia not far from the hôstel.
Service: Very quick check in and out though online check in doesn't work. A day before m'y arrival, i sent an email of cancellation as i was not sure to go as planned. Didnt receive any confirmation/response though having sent a second email as reminder. Called few times for nothing. Good thing i was able to leave last minute. But what if i couldn't ?? Went in and out of the hôstel for numerous times and i was only greeted during check in :) Other staff seemed to be so busy with their social network accounts that they dont even take a glimpse of you if you get in and take the elevator. Maybe this is just a Catalan thing? :)
Now i kind of realized why there are remarks of prévious guests of homeless person who were able to enter the prémisses/rooms. Maintenance and cleaning staff are mostly polite.
Vibe: Last night around 1h to 1h30 of 12 January, we, in room 508 heard a lot of screaming, laughing , arguing in the room and even in the hallway and banging of doors from one of the nearby rooms. It was not only annoying but made out sleep very difficult aside from the squeaky noise of metal bunk beds. The room on the left were occupied by young girls who were laughing aloud, yelling even after midnight. One even screamed like she had an orga@sm. Either this girl is drunk or just simply stup!d. Heard banging of cabinet doors and wall from this room. I wanted to go down to notify the réception but im also afraid to totally lose my very slim chance of sleep. My last night anyways. Too Bad i forgot m'y earplugs.
Slow elevator i would say.

Safestsy Barcelons Passeig de Gracia.
Terrible service. I booked three nights September 26 - 29. Safestay accidentally booked me 2 months later in the month of December for December 26! I won’t even be in Spain 2 months from now. Safestay refused to refund my money even though they have over 2 months to still book that room. I emailed Safestay many times before my arrival to confirm that the dates were correct but they did not respond to any of my messages. I even went to the front desk reception st Safestay Barcelona but the receptionist said they would not help me get a refund. Safestay said I needed to pay more beforehand for the option to change my reservations. It really messed my trip up. After being denied a room at Safestsy on 26 September I was out in the streets of Barcelona searching for a hotel with a vancancy but they were all booked. I had just arrived from an international flight and I was exhausted. It was a dangerous situation for me to be in Barcelona with no where to stay.

Dont go here, unless you dont care about your sleep. The roomdoors need to be closed rather loud otherwise they wont close. Bathroom in room cant lock. No towel for your feet after shower. The towels that you get are filled with rust. Service of the bar is nice, but the people working at the hostel reception are very rude. He gave us an attitude the first second we arrived, we were clear but he didnt understand. Spoke to us as if we were hard of hearing, but it was him who was. There are no kitchens or anything, if you are alone and want to meet new people look for another hostel. Only plus: close to metro.
I dont get the good reviews?

Disappointing. Apart from the excellent location, it's not worth it.
I booked a private room and I didn't even have a bath towel, it had to be rented by the day.
Small room, uncomfortable bed and very, very noisy. It was possible to hear noises from the rooms next door, upstairs and downstairs. The doors to the stairs and noise in the hallways all the time. Even the plumbing made so much noise that it sounded like it was inside the room.
The Hostel does not have a communal kitchen or even a refrigerator to store a bottle of water.
The breakfast, aside, is not worth the price. It's better to go out and eat at a bakery near the hostel.

I had an awful experience with this hostel. I booked it and then received an email saying the room rates were much higher and so I cancelled it immediately. I was still charged however for the full amount despite my protest and refused a refund even though I cancelled it imeediately due to being misled over room rates.

Pros: Close to center, clean beds
Cons: Staff would not so helpful
I stayed two times at this hostel. When you get in it has a bad smell but in the rooms wasn't that bad. The windows couldn't be opened so the smell from shoes and from all the people in there could be discomfort. It had good temperature that you could adjust. When the bathroom door opened (ensuit room) a bad smell came out (only in the 1st room i stayed).
I tried pizza on the canteen which was ok, pretty big for one person, but 5 euros.
I had two problems in my room that staff failed to help me.
Firstly an other roomate (woman) brushed her hair and all the floor was full of hair (beds and bathroom), when I asked at reception to send someone to clean it they very politely told me they will text the housekeeping and in about 20 minutes someone will come. Nobody came untill next morning for the usual cleaning.
Secondly when I got my second room I noticed that in the bathroom was missing the toilet brush. Again I went to reception to ask to give me one and they said that they did not have a spare and probably someone broke it.
They charge you for the locker if you want to leave your luggage before check in for 2 euros.
No curtains for privacy.
I booked it directly from their site where I paid tax and fees but in the check in they told me about an extra hidden fee about 0.75 euro per night , which it was not nice not to mention that when you book and prepay.

Responded 23 Jan 2020
Dear Guest: First of all, we truly hope that, beside the few problems you had, it was a nice stay. We wanted to apologize about the misunderstanding we had when you told us about the hair in the room, maybe the housekeeping staff misunderstood the room number; but of course this shouldn't have happened. On top of that, we are sorry that we run out of toilet brushes that day. In a different situation, we coudl have gave you one. We hope that you enjoyed the city, and we thank you for your time and effort to share this feedback with us. Best Regards, Safestay PDG.

Ola, Bom Dia.
