I had an awful experience with this hostel. I booked it and then received an email saying the room rates were much higher and so I cancelled it immediately. I was still charged however for the full amount despite my protest and refused a refund even though I cancelled it imeediately due to being misled over room rates.

Safestay? More like unsafestay. A man lay in the centre of our room with his hand where the sun don’t shine. Dare I need to say more. This only got more intense. Encouraged by friendly Australians, we told reception that we can barely enter our room because of what he’s doing. The receptionist quite frankly needs a different job (eg not working with people) as his solution to this problem was to try and move half of us girls to a different room, leaving just one with this dodgy man. Well done very clever

I disliked my stay at the hostel. The elevator was broken, so I had to carry my 20+ kg/50 lbs of luggage up 5 flights of stairs and had to walk up 5 flights every time I went out to get back to my room. Further, my key card stopped working twice, so I had climb up and down a total of 10 flights of stairs to get it fixed. The bathrooms are very dirty and smelly. Further, there was a very creepy old man in the room hitting on guests and jerking off.... I do not recommend this hostel.

The only good thing is the location. terribly dirty. nothing works. shower like in a prison. will not come back . I wanted to love with girls, but they don’t have this function, breakfast is bad also . I want to leave my backpack just for one hour, to go to have a normal breakfast in a normal place, you should pay for holding your pack pack) first time I seee this thing

I had 2 night reservation between 1 and 3 of April. I came to hotel 2 hours before and my room card was cancelled. Then i came to reception to make it renew and i back to room again. I saw that someone else was sleeping in my bed. They checked and they accept that 2 times they sold my bed and they cancelled my room card. Now i am waiting outside and they dont want to refund my money. please be careful in this hotel. They may have sold your place to someone else even though you paid and made a reservation. maybe you can sleep outside like me abecause reception said me it is normal.

Felt incredibly unsafe in this hostel, the staff were rude and unhelpful, had to deal multiple times with a trespasser in our room, where the police had to be called three times. Would never recommend this hostel

WORST HOSTEL EXPERIENCE EVER, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SAFESTAY HAVE LEFT ME OUT OF POCKET DUE TO A GLITCH IN THE HOSTELWORLD APP. CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM SAFESTAY WAS INHUMAN. NEVER AGAIN. Do yourself a favour and stat at Generator Hostel.

A little pricey in my opinion, but a good hostel overall. The rooms and bathrooms were okay, about what you would expect in a hostel. They were decently clean. The building itself was very beautiful, old, and charming… and the building was in a great location of Barcelona, in the city center. The staff were very nice as well and payments are cashless.

I posted my review in Google some months ago but I had to contribute Tripadvisor with my experience ruined thanks to the lack of help nor assistance during my short stay. I decided to reserve a bunkbed in a shared room, 405. It had 12 beds or so. I was robbed. My deepest deception arrived when I tried to reach anyone in management but only one guy in reception seemed to be worried about despite of being quite rude and stressed. I asked him to speak with the front desk manager and he runned up to his office. Few minutes later he came back and told me that he was not in the hostel yet. I simply wanted sb to take care of my situation. Deluded. The worst thing comes now, when I came back to pick a friend she told me, as she also asked in the bar who the manager was, the waitress pointed to Andre, an Argentinian, just coming into the bar carring his backpack. They lied to me affirming that no responsible was on duty at that time when I needed asistance. That proves that guests are not a priority for them when it happens to be an urgent ans serious matter as being robbed in the hostel itself. I was not claiming for a special treatment, though a simply direct meeting with the front desk manager, even telling me lies like we are going to help you with the police report, would have worked. Lack of profesional attitude. Sorry to write this but AVOID Safestay Paseig the gracia.…

Got a private 4-bed room after our original accommodation cancelled on us. The location is great, very central. The facilities are fine, seem to be kept clean but did see a few silverfish. Beds aren't that great, and it often is very loud at night but it is a hostel after all.
