I did not end up staying at this hotel due to travel restrictions during the pandemic. I booked a room through Hotels.Com and was not to pay anything until I arrived at the hotel plus could cancel up to 24 hours in advance. However Allys Guest House did charge my credit card over $200 without my consent soon after booking. I figured we would be staying there so I did not worry about it. Of course during the pandemic travel was restricted and I had to cancel. Numerous attempts to contact Allys went unanswered and of course no refund ever came. I contacted Hotels.Com many times as well and they were never able to do anything either. Disappointed that a hotel listed on Hotels.Com could take a persons money and not give it back.

We’d booked a transfer from the airport. They dropped us off on Passeig de Gracia (right by a landmark) and it was a straight 4 minute walk to Ally’s. We knew where the (unsignposted) entrance was because we’d looked at photos beforehand. The friendly building concierge directed us to the first floor. We checked in efficiently, paid city tax and were shown to our room which was ready for us. We had expected to store our luggage so this was a bonus. We had breakfast included in our booking. It’s served between 8:30-10:30am which may not suit all. You have to choose a time and it’ll be waiting for you at the table. Bear in mind that it won’t be a leisurely affair as someone else is probably due in your seat. It worked for us though. Our room - strangely with no number - was a double with balcony and entered directly off the breakfast room. We didn’t experience any disturbance because of this but I can imagine this would depend on your fellow guests. The room itself was smallish but didn’t feel cramped at all. There’s hanging space, bedside cupboards (no drawers), sockets each side of the bed, a small table and chair. Air con if needed. Table and chair on the balcony. The bathroom is fine - shower gel/hand wash/hair dryer provided. The shower was a good size, water pressure good and plenty of hot water. There’s an intermittent noise with both shower/loo when used. You get accustomed to it. The room was cleaned daily, loo paper replenished and fresh towels. You will hear your neighbours; you’ll definitely hear the bars below and the refuse collectors. This didn’t bother us as it kind of comes with the location we chose. Staff we encountered were fine. We were checking out very early so we let the housekeeper know we wouldn’t want breakfast and she confirmed what to do about the keys - you’ll have a bunch of 4 keys: room key, key to the apartment, two keys for the front door. They require a bit of jiggling till you’re used to it. Ally’s is in a great spot for shopping, land marks, public transport (e.g. Park Guell - you can get the 22 from de Gracia which will drop you pretty much outside and exit via the main entrance, walk straight down to the main road and the return bus stop is there. So much easier than directions I’d read which made it sound difficult). Sagrada Familia is an easy walk too. All in all we were happy with our choice for 4 nights. We were comfortable, felt secure, in a good area for us. We will visit again and wouldn’t hesitate to consider staying at Ally’s.

We arrived at the guest house around 12 rang the doorbell and was met and taken upstairs to check in. My first impressions were wow this looks lovely and had read reviews saying how rude the owner was and at that stage found her very nice. After checking in she took us to another guest house about 4 doors away, no explanation of why we were going there although I do have to say it was lovely. The b&b was the same type of layout as Ally’s, all rooms seemed to be on the 1 floor. An explanation would have been good but she left us with another lady who was lovely. As we were early we left our bags and was told they would be left in our room when we returned. We arrived back that evening and the room was so lovely, exceptionally clean and a balcony looking into the street. This guest house we later found out was called Casa Nova guest house. We had no instructions of where the breakfast room was although there certainly wasn’t one in that guest house. We rang Ally’s and was told to come back there for breakfast which although was a bit annoying we did exactly what we were told. That’s were the issues began. The lady at Ally’s shouted at us there was exactly the same breakfast at the other guest house, no there was not. Every room at the other guest house was locked and I assume they were all bedrooms. If we could’ve had breakfast there we most certainly would have. Whilst we ate breakfast she tutted, huffed and puffed and I have never felt so awkward eating a meal. Like another review said she had your money and her politeness had totally disappeared. It’s such a pity because I she really let herself down as I found Barcelona to be a very friendly city. Think again if your going to Ally’s, beware of the owner, go to Casa Nova instead.

Stayed here on a city break. Beds hard one pillow. Noise from road and pub down stairs not what we expected as it was shared kitchen lounge we thought it was an apartment of our own. Basic continental breakfast. Asked for help to book taxi to airport as our precooked didn't arrive told flag one down outside it felt like she had our cash so go. Wouldnt recommend.

We spent 6 nights in Barcelona and found this unique guest house in the center of the city. We had a suite (queen size bed) with bathroom and balcony. The continental breakfast had breads, jams, cold cuts, fruit and muffins. Coffee, tea and muffins always available throughout day. An elevator is available for our heavy suitcases and handicap accessible. Our hostess Veronica spoke english well and very friendly to all her guests. She helped us with information of Barcelona and arranged a cab to pick us up for our cruise. The only suggestion that I have is to have a larger sign outside of the building so visitors can find it easily.

It was my daughters 16th birthday treat to visit Barcelona. I was really pleased with this lovely B&B. Within easy walk to the buses, bars and restaurants. The rooms are basic but with clean comfortable bed, lovely powerful shower. Having read the other reviews I was pleasantly surprised with breakfast and the quality. Fresh fruit, yoghurts, bread cereal, coffee and tea with OJ. The room we had was internal and had aircon. It was lovely and quiet and we had a good rest after our busy days. Staff are lovely and friendly. We ate out at a pizzeria to the right of the B&B and had a meal in Eden which is to the left. We also ate out at the beach. If your trip is for several days get a two day hopper for the sight seeing buses (the red one) it’s only 10 euros more and we found it useful to get to and get back to places. We also shopped at the bullring and took the the lift to the top for 1€. Had a great time and would recommend Ally’s as a base when visiting this wonderful city. Thank you for helping making our daughters 16 special.

We highly recommend Ally Hotel. The staff were friendly, especially Puca and the shuttle drivers. The rooms were clean. The location was peaceful. It was easy to get back-and-forth into town with the shuttles as well as getting to the beach. This was a really relaxing and deluxe part of our trip.

Very easy to find following instructions for the metro use. We were met at check in and given friendly welcome with plenty of information. Breakfast was very good with use of the shared kitchen facilities. Kettle, coffee and tea was available at all times with little snacks. Good location with bars and shops very close.

Such a friendly, clean, quiet, safe and comfortable place to stay on Barcelona. The lady who runs the b&b is so lovely and friendly and she clearly loves what she does. The b&b is so centrally located to the major Gaudi attractions. We went out for a walk on the first day and came across the Casa Mila just down the street, continue on a little more and there is Casa Batllo. Take a small stroll the other way and there is Sagrada Familia. Just amazing. The breakfast is continental and just enough. This is the only place we will stay in Barcelona!!!
