I reserved a room through booking.com seeing that it had a high rating. The pictures made it look much nicer than it actually was. The building was under construction and there was scaffolding outside our balcony that connected all of the rooms, making it feel unsafe. The building was old and dingy and smelled like urine in the hallways. The...

The big value of this hostel is in it's stategic location, great and king réception and staff. Perfect hygiene despite the use of common showers. Good report quality/price. The staff speak only Catalan which is the general case for all Catalans.

Centrally located, a few minutes to La Rambla where you will have tons of options for dining and shopping (in all price ranges). The Metro is also just a few minutes' walk from the hostel. Tip: If you will use the Metro (buy the t10 ticket from the machine -- 10 rides can be shared by multiple people -- means...

Its to noisy! Multiple times been woke up by people on the street on both nights. Even with the windows shut. Heating is broken so its very hot, the beds are finished and so is all the other 'equipment'. Located just 200 meters from Ramblas, which is great. On the hall there are 2 toilets and a nice looking bathroom....

Little room with bathroom, very clean. We had the possibility to make hot water in our room. The Micro was in the common kitchen. The towels were changed every day. Very friendly service, good advice .

If you are going to Barcelona with limited budget and if you dont have sleeping problems, this hostal is for you. It is clean and staff is friendly. Perfect location. I dont reccomend this hostal for those who are picky about bed mattresses and noise from the street.

Perfect location, the hostel just gives you what you need. A bed in a proper room just a minute walking from the Ramblas. People were very friendly and helpfull. Only sharing a bathroom meens that you'll have to wait until it's free, that took some time...

Can't fault it! It is no frills but clean and tidy. My room was cleaned each day with a fresh towel provided. Nice shared lounge with microwave (note to owners, a kettle would be really nice addition) no fault of the hostel but so noisy at night due to location, bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Useful...

I recently stayed in Hostal River with my boyfriend . The hotel is in a good location off the Ramblas , so an easy walk to the bars, restaurants metro and the beach. It is basic , which we expected. However I wouldn't recommend due to the fact that the bathroom is dirty and there were bed bugs in our...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

“Just because so many people stay in and out of Hostels from all walks of life. Since the restrooms are shared I recommend bringing a pair of inexpensive shower flip flops. And I'm from Texas so I get cold easily, depending on the weather I'd also recommend bringing a light blanket.”
