if you want corporate and boring this is not the place for you. Quirky different mirrors and leds everywhere loved this hotel. Was unique and I will remember this place. Also in a great location close to gothic quarter. Very comfortable bed too.
I had a 3 days stay at this lovely hotel brilliantly located in el Born. The hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay. First of all, it’s very clean. Then bed was uber comfortable and had nice amenities like access to free espresso and drinks area in a lovely lounge. The highlight was Mia at reception who was so friendly, helpful and knew how to handle things (not always a feature in non 5 stars hotels). Thank you Mia for looking after me. I’d say this is a 3 star hotel but with a 4 star feel to it. With a location that you can’t beat. Will be back.
This hotel was in a great location. The room was really clean, the bed comfy and the facilities great for a short term stay. The only downside to it was, that the room really hot even with the aircon on, and there was no window to let in fresh air at night.
perfect location, the bus station is 5 min walk from the hotel, it’s in the middle of gothic quarter and the museums are also very close. the staff is helpful and friendly. breakfast was perfect! the decor is nice, it’s cozy and the bar is really nice too! :)
I finally realised what is meant by ”Boutique”: it’s a quirky place with stuff that has absolutely no function whatsoever and hardly any space to hang or store your clothes. This definitely applies to the Chic and Basic Born Boutique Hotel in Barcelona. Nevertheless the rooms are very clean, the bed is comfortable, and the glass shower gives you a feeling of space. The breakfast buffet has a variety of sweet and savoury rolls and fresh fruit. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location wise this place is definitely a winner being a 5 minute walk from estación Francia. Room for improvement? Yes! The rooms are on the first floor and the lay-out is rather confusing. There is hardly any light in the hallway which certainly doesn’t help. The rooms and hallway are “decorated” with heavy plastic strings (see pics) which feel sticky and unpleasant to the skin when you walk through them. Please ditch!…
This is a unique hotel. I had no idea what to expect really. It's definitely boutique. I don't know what it used to be before, but probably some place very grand. I loved how spacious the rooms were. The layout is interesting, especially the placement of the bathroom. I really liked the quirky decor and the lights that change color (although trying to figure out how to turn them off so you can sleep took some time). They were nice enough to provide slippers and I even got a tote bag. Also, and probably more importantly, I slept pretty well on their beds. Great value, would recommend!
I really enjoyed my stay here. Very nice staff and great hotel. The rooms were modern and very clean. Great location, trendy area. Only one negative was the flooring in the hallway our side my room made quite a noise when walked on. If this could be fixed, it would be perfect.
This hotel is well located in an interesting part of Barcelona. Its located in what must have been a grand traditional building which has been chopped about to form a modern quirky hotel. It’s OK and the contrast between modern design and traditional works pretty well. The staff were friendly and helpful. But be careful. The rooms have step downs in them that have been created by the way in which the building has been modified to create rooms. Be very careful when entering Room 14 for the first time. The step downs are not immediately noticeable and you could fall over. I did. The steps should be highlighted. Some of the design work in the hotel is good but there are irritating screens created by hanging plastic cords in the corridors which are a pain to walk past. Corridor lighting is very low level which is trendy but a little too dark.…
Nicely situated on a quiet street in the Born district. Approx 15-20 min walk from Plaça Cataluña and the Aerobus stop or 2-5 min walk from the metro (Jaume I (L4).) There are plenty of good eateries in the vicinity. The hotel itself is small with not a huge number of rooms so is nice and quiet. A lift is available as the rooms are on the first floor. The decor is on the quirky side (may not be to everyone’s taste). The bed was huge and comfortable. On the down side the toilet space was small and I couldn't flush the toilet (although my husband said there was a knack to it!!). The shower cubicle was in the middle of our room (as stated on the room description) and may not suit everyone but other types of room are available. There is a shared area with seating, art books & good quality tea & coffee making facilities plus a minibar. Reception is located next door along with breakfast/snack area and a small bar/lounge area. We didn’t have breakfast included so can’t comment on what it was like (€9 pp) - we ate at the lovely cafes and bakeries along the street. Our room was clean at first glance but there was an old water bottle and some make up left under the bed (from how long ago we have no idea!) There is a secure facility for leaving bags and suitcases although I didn’t see anything mentioned about a safe facility at all during our stay. Free Wi-fi is available and worked very well. There is a very small “gym” with a couple of pieces of equipment available (we didn’t use it). The room had a tv, air con and shower gel, shampoo and hand wash to use. Staff were always pleasant and helpful and spoke good English. Overall great value for money, excellent location and we’d definitely stay there again. …
Very nice hotel and room (definitely not basic!) in a great location. But, in my view, not very chic either! There are long glass bead curtains in the room and around the room entrance that are a pain in the butt and, along with changing light colours. Not chic at all, just a bit tacky. Otherwise, a great hotel and room in a great location with excellent wifi and a coffee/tea station and lounge on each floor (I guess?) with free water and biscuits -- a real nice touch. The desk staff were also very friendly and helpful. My recommendation to the hotel: get rid of the beads and coloured lights and change the name to "Great little hotel in a perfect location"!
