I had seen the Reception area and the Bar at the 1898 on previous visits, but always thought it was too centrally located at the heart of La Rambla to be a serious proposition as a hotel. How wrong I was! This time, we decided to stay here and could not have found a better place. It is a large...

Believe me, the perfection is in the details. I am actually staying in this hotel, a classy one, with a spa, an outdoor swimming pool and bar, and so one. The best remembering are those you keep with you after your stay. This morning I just asked to access the upper floor to make a photograph of the raising sun...

Fabulous location right on Las Ramblas, the main walking & shopping street. Lobby was beautifully appointed. Our room was spacious & attractive, our balcony large & pleasant. The front desk staff was always attentive, friendly & helpful. All staff members were pleasant & polite. The rooftop pool & bar was wonderful with panoramic views of Barcelona.

We stayed in one of their less inexpensive rooms but it was so pretty and had a great little view out a window that opened nicely. The indoor pool is so romantic and the outdoor pool has 360 degree views. Had a nice beer/nuts in the lobby. Very nice staff.

Wow what a hotel, fantastic location situated on the main la rambla street. We spent 3 nights in this hotel and I would definitely have stayed longer. We were on the rooftop terrace every evening enjoying the night time scenery. The most fantastic part was on the day of my partners birthday we received a knock on the door and...

I had an amazing time with my closest friend celebrating our birthdays. The hotel was an easy few minutes walk from the Aerobus stop and we received a very warm welcome and an effortless checkin. We had a lovely surprise of a room upgrade. We were taken to the room and shown where everything was. All the staff were friendly,...

The staff was wonderful and helpful, the amenities excellent and the location perfect for access to many attractions. From the hotel it is an easy walk to the double-decker tour buses that make two special loops around the city. The orange goes in one direction and the green in the other direction. A pass for two days is reasonable and...

Named after the year when the Philippines was free of spain and in an old tobacco factory. Stayed here for a business meeting and service was great, fast , friendly and efficient. Typical feeling was when we asked breakfast to be brought to the meeting room with 30 min advance and they politely replied that they would arrange but it...

Love the vibe of this hotel, boutique and intimate feel and love the dark-themed rich interiors. Cleanliness was incredible and the service was above and beyond from the minute we arrived! Thank you staff of Hotel 1898!

Just got back from a week at the Hotel 1898 for my wife's 30th birthday. Wow! That pretty much sums it all up. The service from the moment you check in to the moment you check out is excellent. Half way through the week we even got left a bottle of bubbly in our room with a note saying, 'hope...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
