Located between Plaza Catalunya and Urquinaona, the Gran Ducat is very convenient to both metro and bus lines to get anywhere in Barcelona, plus it is within easy walking distance to many attractions in and around the old part of the city. However, there are trade-offs. Currently undergoing renovation a few rooms at a time, there is some disruption during...

We chose this hotel for its location near Plaza Catalunya but were not made aware when booking that the hotel is undergoing major works and there is drilling and hammering from 10am to at least 6pm daily at the moment. I didn't go to Barcelona to laze around in a hotel room but did expect to be able to rest...

The hotel is located few steps from Plaza Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia and it's also close to the underground (Urquinaona stop) and to some stop buses. All around you can find restaurants and bar. The staff is kind and helpful. We didn't have breakfast but paying, you could have it. The price payed was good. Hotel/room was cleaned. We...

This hotel is in a great location, it is minutes away from the metro and the bus stop, not to mention La Rambla and Mercat de Borqueria. The rooms may be too small for a couple but worth it for the location. The staff that checked me in was friendly and was very helpful in answering any questions that I...

This is no frills hotel, very simple and clean. It's a perfect location at the centre of Barcelona. If you are looking for a base from which to explore the city look no further. Very clean and wi-fi works well. Skip the breakfast though, the restaurant next offers better one.

Turned up at hotel 7pm with wife and was greeted by a very nice gentleman that spoke excellent English, he gave us room card and details of where to find it. I enquired about getting some drinking water and he directed me next door to 24 hour supermarket. We had twin beds pushed together which were clean and very comfortable,...

The room was so small everytime I opened my suitcase I had to close it so we could lay on the bed since there was no way you could open it on the floor. The bathroom was super tight and hard to use. Also not friendly for disabled individuals. There is a lift... But then there are also stairs you...

My husband and I stayed at the hotel from Sept 6-13, 2016. We chose this hotel based on location, the three star rating and pictures. The last two left a lot to be desired. I would not give this hotel three stars. I think two stars would be more accurate. I had read reviews before booking and, based on noise...

I visit Barcelona once a year and i try to stay at different hotels but this place has been the biggest mistake. First, the front desk blonde guy was incompetent, he was complaining about another guest to my face (very unprofessional), then he didnt even help me get my bags in when he saw i was obviously struggling and when...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
