We had a great three night stay at Zoo Rooms in May. The rooms aren't big (at least ours wasn't) but they had big windows letting in lots of light, some very funky wall murals (a panda playing a harp, anyone?!) and the communal kitchen/ garden/ living room area was absolutely lovely. The air con worked brilliantly, the bathroom was...

We were thrilled with this place! We took the room with the terrace, and it was the best! Best sleep I ever had in a hotel. The place has a very cool design, with awsome (and sometimes wierd :P) wall paintings, everything was super clean and neat, the location was perfect (not too close to the center so it's not...

Very well located, pretty close to public transport and excellent restaurants. If you want to eat in, the shared kitchen at ZooRooms has all the equipment necessary; up till oven and two fridges. Great staff keeps the place clean. Beds are good, showers has hot pressured water which is winter is a plus. I would say the experience is a...

This creative (wait till you see the lights) place to stay has a lot of advantages. First of all, the staff is welcoming and helpful. We got a 20 minute introduction to the area from Steve with lots of dining recommendations and a very good laundromat within a few blocks. Pay attention to their recommendations as they were great without...

Located in a central location with access to everything Barcelona tourism has to offer, however the street it is on is also very quiet compared to many others in the city. The staff is always helpful but never intrusive. The room was more spacious than I had anticipated for a busy, old, European city. Fun and funky décor, large communal...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
ZOO ROOMS offers stylish and budget "chic & cheerful" accommodation to a new generation of culturally sophisticated visitors to Barcelona who want a certain level of independence mixed with top-quality service, style and comfort at an affordable price.Hotel? Hostel? - Oh?tel! Our rooms meet guidelines for hotel standards, but our prices are closer to a hostel. we are a unique boutique guesthouse, combining the quality you'd find in a fancy hotel with the personal services offered in a hostel - you can cook your own meal, mingle with other guests, chill out in the living room, drink on the terrace, and all at an affordable price. The location of our little city oasis, in the heart of the Eixample area, was carefully chosen so our guests would get a better city experience and level of comfort and relax that you just won't find staying in the old town. We are situated in a prestigious area of the city, next to the city's most hip restaurants, bars and just walking distance to the city's finest sights: There are bars and clubs just around the corner if you want to go out dancing, the best of the city's restaurants - with prices to suit all budgets - are all within easy walking distance. Gaudí's masterpieces La Pedrera and Casa Battló are also just a few blocks away. The area is safe at night to walk around in - you will not be harrassed by beer-sellers, thieves and drunkards like in the old town.Did we mention the TERRAZA? Our privileged guests will soon discover our large sunny terrace with hammocks and tables and lounge chairs where guests can really chill out and take a break from the hum-drum of the big city. We organise weekly BBQ's in the evenings during the summer months serving a wonderful array of the best Argentinean and Galician meats, fresh fish and grilled vegetarian options. ... more   less
