I'm happy for the owners of Pensio 2000 that they are rated among the 10 best places to stay in Barcelona, according to the Guardian (June 2011). They deserved this rating. They also continue to improve their rooms.

We (a family of 5) stayed 3 days in Barcelona at Pensio 2000. First of all Barcelona is a fantastic city but we will always remember the trip due to the cosy stay at Pensio 2000. Pensio 2000 is located quite central within walking distance from Place Catalunya. The rooms are nice and quite big but the thing to point...

Very friendly pension, with view on the beautiful 'Palau de la Musica', in a lively and very central area. We were there with our two sons; had two bedrooms in the same 'appartment', decorated in sunny colours, with a nice clean bathroom and pleasant shower. Owners are very friendly and inviting; we could even install our bicycle on the terrace!...

We had a great experience at Pension 2000 in Barcelona during our recent vacation. With its location right across the street from the historic music theater it was easy to find. You just have to be aware that since it is in a historical building that the sign for the pension is a small sign about eye height on the...

I arrived a day late after a flight cancellation but Orlando & Manuela at Pensio 2000 were as accommodating as ever despite my delay. This was my first visit to Spain, I felt at home immediately. Any questions I had as a newcomer they answered. A limited but diverse breakfast is offered for a small charge to begin your day...

This is a great pensione. We stayed for a week in late June 2011 and it was perfect - just like being at home. Definitely NOT like staying in a hotel, which is exactly what we want. Orlando and Manuela and the rest of the family are very welcoming and helpful. Terrific, central position and great breakfast. There's a climb...

We just returned from a fabulous trip to Spain and spent our last evening in Barcelona. We decided to stay in a B&B instead of a hotel - but a hotel would have been much better. The hosts were ok, as previous reviews stated they are not overly friendly, but not too bad. However, when we checked in we were...

I have staved at Pensio 2000 many times and have enjoyed every trip, even more so since all the rooms are now ensuite (the bathrooms are really good) ,with sound proofing and televisions in the rooms. The location could not be better, right in in the heart of the city, opposite the wonderful Palau de la Musica Catalana, with a...

I agree with other reviews. This pension is in a great location and the rooms are charming and spotless. I loved listening not only to some of the concerts from the Palace of Music across the road at night, but also to the children practising each day (there is a School of Music on the floor below). The owners were...

Great location next to Palace of Music, can walk 10-15 mins to Rambla ( we always took our time), to metro (5 min), Aerobus(10min), tapa bars, cafes and tons of shopping all around.... two nights a choir practiced on the floor below us, and it was beautiful! Sounded like angels singing! I felt like I was staying at a friends...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
