This hostal is right across from the Palau de Musica - the location couldn't be better. It is an old-fashioned, homely place with quirky furnishings and very friendly and helpful owners. The only reason it isn't five-star is that we weren't sure if there was anybody around during the night. Apart from that, it's perfect.

The reason I give this review a "poor" rating is mostly because of the unfriendly owners and their SUPER unfriendly son. It seems charming and like it should be nice, but like others, I find that this family is in the wrong kind of business. They don't really seem to like people much. Complaints: the lights in our room were...

We couldn't belief we were so close to so much. Easy walk from airport bus which dropped us at Placa Catalunya. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet despite being almost in central Barcelona. The Pensio is on the 2nd floor and a lift would be useful, but our hosts did help with luggage which we appreciated. We had our...

Well I join the chorus praising this place. Located in a centrally located old building this is a charming place. The rooms have plenty of space and are clean and tidy. The hosts could not be friendlier and more helpful. It is close to everything. It is on the second floor but they have a device to lift luggage up...

We stayed here 2 nights with our 1,5 year old daughter in July. We were lucky the weather was not too hot so we did not need to use the AC during the night. The room is really kozy and it has a lot of character! It was huge and had really high ceiling! Some noise from a bar in...

We booked this place after research online - the location turned out to be awesome , few minutes from most tourist attractions in old quarter, close to train, metro and bus stops. It is bang opposite Palau de la Musica...very friendly place, nice hosts..lots of restaurants around...could not have asked for a better choice One caveat though...it is on 2nd...

Genuinely friendly, cosy B&B in the centre of Barcelona next to the Palau de la Musica. Excellent breakfast (plenty of options) on internal terrace. Couple running the pension couldn't have been nicer. Lounge for guests use with travel books (which we borrowed for the day) free tea/coffee and water cooler for drinks, Use of fridge. Excellent value for money. Only...

We've booked this location because there were so many positive reviews on the internet. The location and the buidling were good: an old and nice building in the middle of the city, close to everything! The room is sober, but OK. The bathroom is OK, only the free shampoo was in a dirty bottle and the toilet-pulverizer made a lot...

Pensio 2000 is a great choice for a short stay in Barcelona. Orlando, the owner, is so welcoming and there's nothing he hasn't thought of to make his guests stay more comfortable. Even down to the ingenious quirky case lift! We had a large double room with two small balcony windows, and the double glazing ensures a good nights sleep...

Spent 4 days at Pensio 2000 - are quite satisfied. This is a pension, not a hotel.... Local flavor yet loads of conveniences. Things started well with Orlando giving us a map and some tips. They ended well, too, as Orlando mapped the 7 minute walk to the airport bus (6,9€). The rooms are interesting, clean, and homey. Piles of...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
