Trip Advisor is right again! This place is just as everyone here describes it. Rooms are small and clean, and the en suite bathroom is nice to have (after a full day of walking in the sun, you'll want your own shower.) Good wifi and the elevator is a nice bonus as we were on the 4th (5th) floor. Our...

I'm glad my friend and I decided to check out what hostal is. I thought it's a bit more than a teenage camp and something old and dirty. In fact it's an apartment building with the reception. Rooms are small but very clean. Fresh bedsheets and towels all white, which is important if you want to be sure if it's...

Looking for a hotel with trendy decor, then this is not for you. However, if you are looking for a modest guest house with rooms with private bathroom, located near the Ramblas (near the subway stop "Liceu") and market "La Boqueria", then this hostel is for you. The cost / benefit is very positive, because it is effectively close to...

Great location. Staff were super helpful, needed an iron; we got one! Needed an extra pillow; we got one...room was cleaned daily, and general standard was excellent for the cost. Room was small, but who goes to Barcelona to sit in a hotel room!!! Shower was super hot and powerful too.

The location was pretty good, half way down la rambla and a few blocks off (even though its on the wrong side). A couple other hotels around, so there were usually people around. The room was spacious and the little patio was nice. It's right next door to a grocery store, so grabbing a quick breakfast is super easy. The...

spent 2 nights at La Terrassa, and was OK all in all. the room was tiny, not room even for the suitcase on the floor, and the balcony is also for only a single chair. the room though is very clean and the shower is new and very lovely. staff was good. Didn't like the Wifi, a lot of the...

pros: LOCATION is great. WiFi is perfect. room was very clean. nice stuff. big safe (near the reception, not inside the room). cons: shower cell was very small. we could hear people going up and down the stairs from inside the room. no TV.

This hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms and hotel in general are very basic, but the location is amazing. Literally a 2 minute walk from the centre of las ramblas and the boqueria market. About a 10 minute walk from where the Aerobus drops you off if you are coming from the airport. Easy to find too. Great...

We would definately stay here again as it was clean, bed was very comfortable, quiet, and the location was excellent. Also, the price was very good for the location. The only (and odd) complaint was that there were no bedside lamps and the ledge which was convenient to lay things was also at an odd height so that it was...

Can't complain about the hostel itself as everything was clean and the staff were friendly; however the walls are PAPER THIN. We stayed in a twin room with balcony and whether it was noise from outside or from another room I was woken up at least twice a night. Every time someone from another room had a shower, used the...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hostal la Terrassa is located in portion of old town Barcelona where the first settlement of the Raval neighborhood was established. It was built around the Romanic church of Sant Pau del Camp after the fall of the Roman Empire.Less than 5 minutes walking distance, La Terrassa hostal is very near “La Rambla”. This popular promenade was finally completed at the end of the XVIII century and is where in we can find the colorful market known as “la Boqueria” or “Sant Josep” founded in 1836. In the 1800s the upper class of Barcelona gain interest in the Raval area and began to populate the neighborhood’s most important streets. La Terrassa is located in Junta de Comerç street once it first opened it became at the time not only the widest and grandest street, but also the “Champs-Élysées” of Barcelona. The most significant example of an important personality moving to the neighborhood was Count Güell, who commissioned Antoní Guadí to build him a palace in 1885.Nowadays Old Town is an up and coming neighborhood regaining the grandeur of its glory days. It’s the second neighborhood with most character in Barcelona after the Gothic Quarter forming Old Town. Located right in the heart of the city, la Terrassa offers a place to rest “where the action is”. ... more   less
