this is a great hotel, a mins walk way from Las Ramblas, the room was small but spotlessly clean, the a/c worked well. there was a bath/ shower, hair dryer, safe. staff were all friendly and eager to help (they booked us a table for lunch). breakfast had a good cold selection and hot dog sasages and scrambled eggs for...

Spent 4 nights in this hotel and can't believe the negative comments about it. Our room was extremely spacious with separate bathroom from the toilet/bidet. It was all brand new furniture and everything was spotlessly clean. The 3* rating seems a little on the downside - I would rate it a 4". The square outside did seem to attract a...

In my opinion, the only thing this hotel has going for it is that it is near the ramblas. That said, the short walk between the two is unnerving, especially at night. There are a constant group of people drinking, who seem to have no fixed abode. My husband and I were approached by a man asking us if we...

Me and my OH stayed at the Sant Agusti Hotel for 3 nights. We were pleasantly greeted outside the Hotel by a homeless man relieving himself against a tree........word of warning, if you wear sandals watch where you walk as they just pee in the square outside the hotel. The hotel room was very basic but fine for 3 nights...

19th August 2010 I read the reviews before staying in St Agusti and we were pleasantly surprised as there seemed to be some quite negative comments. The hotel is very well located off Las Ramblas which has many restaurants, bars, metro, etc. The hotel is situated in a square just off the main street which is frequented by homeless and...

I stayed in September 2009 with my Mum on a three day break for Sightseeing We arrived at the hotel after a very long day to be checked into a tiny room on the 4th floor. The room was BOILING so we opened the window... this opened onto the square below where the tramps sleep and people sit out at...

Just got back from Barcelona. We have been to this beautiful city a couple of times now and stayed in three hotels all siturated on / near Las Ramblas. Hotel Sant Augusti was far better than we had expected and excellent value for money. We requested a room with a balcony which they gave us. The room was spacious (room...

Arrived in mid morning for a 2 night stay and we were able to get in the room almost immediately. The staff helped us find local attractions we could walk to and then gave directions to the tourist bus, which we took everywhere. Rooms were clean, comfortable, modern with great air conditioning We had 2 balconies in a corner room...

The San AGusti is in a little square 40 m off the Ramblas, 5mins from Placa Ctalunya and the same from the port. We had a nice view over the square with small balcony( do not be put off by suggestions that homeless people use it ) . Dinner is offered but there are small places to eat favoured by...

My daughter (15) and I spent 4 idyllic days in Barcelona. The Sant Agusti hotel is located ideally - just of La Ramblas and cheek by jowl with the Boqueria .... What more could a girl want? We'd have loved a friendly face to greet us at reception. Breakfast is served in lovely lightfilled rooms (bare stone walls down one...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
