This hotel is close to many popular places. It's clearly not a 5 star hotel but it is a nice hotel with decent and modern furnishing and very good and friendly service. We were able to walk to a number locations including the Columbus monument and La Rambla, without much effort. It is also close to many restaurants, and if...

The staff bended over backwards to make our staff comfortable and enjoyable. This was our first time in Barcelona, so the staff was very helpful in suggesting places to visit and to eat. Also, we arrived early and left late. The hotel was very accomodating in holding our luggage. The hotel is located right beside the Metro, which was very...

Myself and hubby stayed here for 3 nights in early Sept. The hotel is clean, and rooms big, with very clean bathroom. (no kettle/coffee but we hardly stayed in room and would rather go out for coffee, so was fine). Many restaurants/bars within less than 5 minutes walk. All shops (pharmacy, bars, food, supermarkets are within minutes walk). We didnt...

Visited with a few uni past uni mates for the Barcelona super cup final. What a fantastic hotel in a great location for la rambla, the beach, the Nou camp and many other sights. Metro station is literally outside the front doors and you can get to any of the above in less than 20 mins! Great hotel, friendly staff,...

We stayed in a triple room in the Barcelona Universal Hotel at the end of August 2013 and found it suited our needs perfectly. The room itself was huge as was the bathroom, with two showers, a bath and two sinks. There was an assortment of food on offer at breakfast, including hot and cold food, cereals, fresh fruits and...

Great staff. Nicely appointed rooms. Comfortable rooms. Clean bathrooms which is always appreciated. Would have like free coffee as they did not include breakfast in the price of the rooms. Many good restaurants close by. Metro station just outside of the front door which made it very convenient to site see.

We stayed here for a few nights before a cruise. Our luggage was lost at the airport and without our asking, the staff at the front desk kept calling the airport until it was found and delivered. That is service beyond expectations! The hotel was very nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. We will definitely use this hotel again if...

Thank you very much for spending time and writing your opinion. On behalf of our staff we appreciate your words; to us they are helpful and allow us to assess both: quality of our facilities and the service we want to offer to our customers. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon among us

Good location close to the Metro and a short walk to Las Ramblas. They have an awesome map of Barcelona available at the front desk. They were happy to call a cab, suggest restaurants, or give directions. The rooms were nice, clean and had large closets. The pool up on the roof has fantastic views of the city.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
