I stayed in this hotel in January/14 with my husband and we had a great time. The access is extremely easy - you can either walk everywhere or take the subway, which is a few steps away from the door. Room service was reasonably priced and the staff was friendly. The room was great and although I was worried that...

This hotel is handily located near the Rambles and next to a metro station. On arrival the staff were incredibly curt and quite frankly rude. Whilst i understand they were talking in a second language, their manner was really quite rude and unwelcoming. Breakfast was ok but the cooked food was very greasy. However the room was good and the...

I'm not normally one for staying in larger, sometimes impersonal hotels - but for short city breaks, particularly out of season, you can get an excellent deal, as is the case here. The staff are friendly and helpful - which is what makes this place stand out - and it is reasonably well situated for some of the main attractions....

I booked this hotel for the close position to Las Ramblas and the port district and was not disappointed. We arrived early in the morning after the airport bus dropped us at the Plaza Espanola and it was a simple walk to the hotel. They gave us a room early and is was very good. Desk attendant was excellent. Good...

We spent 5 nights in this hotel and had no problems whatsoever. The rate we paid for the room was ridiculously cheap when I booked a few months ago and the room was probably the nicest we had on our 3 month trip through Europe. The hotel is on a Main Street with a underground station just outside, walking distance...

We came to Barcelona in January because it is the perfect time to see all the Gaudi museums. The hotel was recommended on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. Being on a main road did mean there was more noise than we are used to - however the rooms were decent and the staff did everything they could to make...

My first trip to Barcelona - with a group of friends. A fab few days helped by staying centrally in a convenient location. Staff were friendly and helpful and very accommodating. One of our rooms had a balcony which became the place to meet before (and after) going anywhere. A super city break.

I stayed here for four days and it was a truly wonderful experience. The room was spacious and modern, very well decorated with an excellent bathroom. The location of the hotel is incredible - right next to a metro station and close to La Rambla and other attractions. The service was impeccable - the staff all very polite and helpful....

Great value for money, modern looking rooms and very good location. We were there for 3 nights with a party of 10. All the staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us. One of the guys on reception spent 20 minutes ringing various restaurants in order to get somewhere appropriate for us for New Year Eve dinner...

We stayed at the Barcelona Universal just prior to Christmas, having previously stayed back in 2005. The hotel is in a great location; only a 10-15 minute walk from La Rambla, Montjuic (1992 Olympic venues), Magic Fountains at the Palau Nacionale, Port Vell etc. The Paral.lel Metro station is also right outside (the Montjuic Funicular Railway also leaves from Paral.lel)....

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
