The people running this quaint b&b are what make it extraordinary! I NEVER stay in B&B's , typically I prefer Kimpton hotels such as W Hotel and Hotel Meridian. The price versus value relationship of this hotel is astounding!! I would be hard pressed to find a hotel room as clean and beautifully appointed as the rooms in El Balcon...

Great place to base ourselves for three days. Anna was amazing, she checked us in early and gave us a run down on the city of Barcelona. We were lucky enough to get a balcony over looking the terrace and the atmosphere of the b & b, was a great way to meet others and hear their stories. Good facilities,...

So sorry to read below of some guests at El Belcon del Born being robbed on their way in. I can see how this could happen and can understand why they would have wanted to leave this B&B because of it. We were met at the end of the street because our taxi driver was unable to find it and...

El Balcon del Born was a great experience for the first visit to Barcelona. Anna was a charming hostess, filled with good suggestions for dining and touring. The rooms and baths were spotless and the breakfast was generous and delicious. Met Pablo, Roberto and Thomas who were all very charming and helpful. The taxi waiting for us on our early...

It was my fourth time in Barcelona, but the first time with my daughter and the place couldn't be better. We had a nice and warm welcome with coffee and breakfast, because we arrived early. That was so kind! The rooms are very beautiful, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect in the old part of Barcelona, near the see...

This was our first time visiting Barcelona and we enjoyed our stay at El Balcon Del Born. We drove in and found parking only a couple of blocks away. The location was great and the service was also great! We were greeted by Anna and Pablo and shown around the apartment. We were offered a beer upon arrival and felt...

If you like staying in B & B you will love this. The staff was exceptional. Rooms were clean and had a great view. Yummy breakfast and Anna worked like a travel agent. She gave us restaurant tips and information about the local area. We only had 3 days but with the tourist bus for two days, we were able...

First time to Barcelona and staying at El Balcon Del Born. I chose this place because of the reviews and we were not disappointed. Pablo is very friendly and helpful. My husband and I spent a lovely week in early April with Pablo in his upstairs property (Anna, who is also lovely, was running the property downstairs). Barcelona was fabulous, but one of our favorite parts of every day was sitting and talking with Pablo over breakfast. When making our reservation, we picked between two rooms and asked for the...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
